*****Please read this description in its entirety, there are specific details that you will need to know to be an informed consumer on this vehicle. 1987 Toyota Corolla FX-16, 5 speed **NOT** GT-S, has VERY minimal rust. Car has a fuel-injected 4AGE engine, very quick and fun to drive. Car is from the northwest where the roads are NOT salted. This is a very clean and nearly rust-free car. The car runs beautifully, almost like new. Recently gave fresh oil change and had some minor exhaust work done. Car is very clean for an ’87! I have owned this vehicle for about five months now. I am ONLY selling it as I have taken a large pay cut recently. This is a VERY fun car to drive. It has very good power and everything works! However, THIS CAR IS ***NOT*** a GT-S as shown on the hatch, this is a base model FX-16, hatch door was likely replaced. The only difference between the GT-S and base model are creature comforts and aesthics (painted bumpers, power options, different cloth on the seats, A/C, etc.) Therefore, this vehicle does NOT have those options. As I understand it the FX-16 and the FX-16 GTS are mechanically identical. This car had been sitting for some time, but not sure how long. The last time the car was registered was 2004. The car was donated to a local charity and their mechanics found that it only needed a fuel pump. Once they replaced it, it started right up. They also cleaned the gas tank as it had about 1/3 tank of gas left in it when was parked. Gas gauge only shows up to 1/3 tank. The car runs GREAT! It is very quick and very fun to drive. When I expressed my interest in purchasing the car, there was a line of people waiting to purchase it due to its condition. Car is in very good condition for the year, but does have a few minor quirks. I am a perfectionist and these imperfections are minor. The carpet in front of the drivers seat does have a hole a few inches wide, but can be repaired or replaced easily. I am including a replacement front carpet with the car. Or just use the mats (included); There is a small (less than 1”) hole in the face of the heater instrumentation, does not affect function, just cosmetic. (see photo) There is a spot of rust below the latch on the rear door, not visible when closed. I have not removed plastic to see how large, but doesn’t look serious. (see photo) Windshield has scratches, may need to be replaced. Paint overall is in good condition, washed and waxed and looks good. However on the right side of the roof, some paint is in poor condition and one small spot of surface rust. Paint on rear door in poor condition. Body is absolutely straight, rear hatch does have one very small dent that is hard to see. Also, a scrape is visible on left front bumper. (see photo) Car has the original radio, which works fine, but one of the speakers has some static. The cassette player does not work. The horn works, but is not very loud. These are the only known imperfections I am aware of on the vehicle. Everything else seems good on this car. This is a VERY RELIABLE car and runs very well for being 24 years old (manufactured JAN 1987). I have had no problems with the car since I have owned it and it has been a daily driver. I would have no issues driving this car just about anywhere. It was obviously very well cared-for. Interior is very clean, no cracks in the dash, carpets also generally in very good condition except as noted above. Car was recently detailed. When the car was on the dealer’s lot, the wheels and tires were stolen, so they replaced them with generic steel wheels with hubcaps. Tires are in good condition and have good tread left. As of Mar. 1, 2011, the car has 195,618 miles. Over 24 years, this is an average of about 8,000 miles per year. I have the clear title, and there are no brands on the title. I have not run a carfax on the vehicle, so I don’t know the history of the vehicle.
