Vehicle Detail
1970 Karmann Ghia by Volkswagen. This is one cool little car ! A real classic. It draws more attention than my 2010 Camaro, Chevy SSR, or V12 Jaguar ! People just love this thing ! This Ghia is a very solid, well maintained example that's in very good condition. It's had a new 1600 cc engine installed 4,000 miles ago, and : new tires, shocks, brakes, exhaust, and updated ( and safer ) 3 point seat belts installed. Karmann Ghias have VW Bug running gear, including suspension, engine, and brakes. It is rear engined and rear wheel drive. It actually is very good in the snow, or anything slippery really, if you wanted to drive it in the winter ( I don't). They are very easy to work on, and cheap to maintain. This coupe has a lot of things going for it . It starts easy, and runs really well, goes down the road nice and straight without any surprises. The body is very good and the paint is shiny - not quite ready for show, but still very presentable. It is light grey with black interior. The front hood( storage space underneath) was painted white. New floor panels have been welded in. It has a very solid underbody. There is one small spot that is rusted through on the outer sheet metal, that is hardly visible- under the drivers side rear bumper. You would only see it if I pointed it out. If I have time to fix it before the auction is up, I will. The interior is in very good condition also. There is one 1/2" tear in the passenger seat bottom. Otherwise it looks sharp. The rear seat back folds down flat, and there's some space behind it to actually put a couple sets of golf clubs, or whatever, back there. An aftermarket stereo and CD player are installed. The rear windows pop out in the back for ventilation. There's a lot to like about this Ghia. It's a perfect blank canvas for someone to make into there own special project, or just drive it as it is, and enjoy it. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. With it's German engineering, Italian body design, and 30-35 mpg, how can you beat it ?! Included in the sale: a new ($200) steering wheel (white), headliner, exhaust tips, and many manuals and catalogs. ***** I want to sell, so a low reserve has been set. *****
