For sale is a 1972 Volvo 164E with automatic transmission. I bought the car for my daughter who has since lost interest in it and so have I. The car runs and drives and actually very well but it needs brake work. When you stop the left front and both rear calipers do not release, they do eventually release but it takes a while. I called some repair shops and finally ended up getting in touch with a place out of Oregon called IDP(503-257-7500) and they specialize in all things Volvo and they said the rubber brake hoses need to be replaced and they are all around 20 dollars each. The braking system on this car is very different from anything I'm used to because both front calipers have 2 rubber hoses each and each rear wheel is independant of each other they work with the upper or lower side of the front 4 piston caliper set up. It has 4 wheel disc brakes by the way. They say it's for safety reasons strange to me though, what this means is you will bleed the brakes un-like any you are used to unless you've worked on a system such as the Volvo system before. Okay moving on the interior is very clean as you can see in the pics the carpet is nice with no tears but it does have some sun fading on the rear and there is also some fading in the package tray. The wheels have brake dust on them from the previous owners driving it with the brakes not releasing properly. The body is strait with a rub mark on the drivers door from something white, the only rust is in the spare tire well. The car has two gas cans one the pics and one on the drivers side under the mat, both say Volvo so I guess they came stock with it. The dash is nice no missing knobs and the stereo is nice for it's time it plays very well I think it's a Pioneer Super Tuner tape deck no CD player. All the glass is good but the front passenger window crank is either broken or it came out of the window track. The engine is fuel injected and runs well but it has an intermitant miss like it has a bad plug, plug wire or an injector that's not working properly. The transmission shifts nice and all gears work fine. I think I have given as complete a discription as I can. Any questions send a message to me. Thanks and happy bidding.
