For your consideration is a 1981 VW Rabbit pickup. This truck could be an great everyday driver or an excellent candidate for restoration I have owned this vehicle for about 18 months. I am selling it because I am 6'5" tall, and it is a little tight! I purchased this vehicle with the intention of restoring it to "Like New". The body, with the exception of a couple of rust throughs (please see the pictures) is in pretty good shape. No dents or deep scratches. But, it is not very comfortable for me to drive because of my height. Title is free and clear. No issues, it is in hand. The truck is a 1.6 L diesel. The fuel pump is a rebuilt Bosch pump. It has about 100 miles on the rebuild. The timing belt was replaced when I bought the truck. I have only driven this truck about 500 miles since I owned it. As you can see from the pictures, it has a few issues. There are a few rust throughs. They are all on the back of the cab and the bed of the truck. The strut towers are solid, as shown. The paint is not good, the interior, although "functional" is in need of some love. The headliner is missing. There is surface rust where the headliner should be. There is no radio. The CV joints are starting to make a little noise. I have the VW wheel covers, a Chiltons manual and an extra insturment cluster (81K miles, I don't think it works though.) I have driven this truck all over south Alabama, and hate to see it go, but I just don't drive it much because of my size. The engine is strong, and runs like a top. It starts easily, and drives strong. No misses, hickups etc. It is not very fast, but will get you where you are going. All the lights work as they should. There are no electronics in this vehicle. The A/C works well, but the heater blows in the middle vents, and the A/C blows from the outer vents when the fan is turned on. I live in Mobile, Alabama. I prefer cash on pickup. I do not require a deposit, although I ask that you bid only if you are serious about purchasing this truck. I have described this vehicle honestly, however, this is a "as is, where is" sale. I will assist the buyer in shipping the vehicle, provided the shipper makes shipping arrangments. I have zero experience in shipping vehicles. REALLY low reserve. On Jan-29-11 at 12:46:05 PST, seller added the following information: Added Saturday, Jan 29th @ 2:45; There are 4 or 5 chips in the front windshield. The sliding back window is plexiglass. The manual transmission is a 5 speed. In the auction title, I put 4 speed. Sorry for the confusion. The shift linkage has just been rebuilt. Both of the other belts have just been changed as well.
