Vehicle Detail
ht Introduction: Up for auction is a true piece of American history. This 1966 Mustang 289 Coupe is very nice and maintains 90% of its originality. Let's spend some time going back in history to track her steps of yesterday, as well as take a walk around her to see all she has to offer. The Story: This car was purchased new by, Jewel Ann Matthews, a teacher in Southern Mississippi. She drove the car up until the early 80's, and then the car was placed in dry storage for a few years before she finally decided to part with her pony. The car was then sold to a gentleman in Tennessee, before making its was up to its present location. Exterior: Drenching all of the classic Mustang lines is a gorgeous coat of Ford Candyapple Red. This car was repainted a few years back and looks really good. The paint and body are in excellent condition with no rust, dents, or scratches. This car still has all of its original sheet metal in tact from rear quarter panels to front fenders and is very straight. The body and door gaps are very precise and clean. The classic body lines that trace down the side of the car from the fenders, to the doors, and into the quarter panels are very straight and look as good as they did from day one. The black vinyl top is in excellent condition with absolutely no rips, tears, bubbles, or discolorations. All of the original Carlite glass in the car is in excellent condition without any chips, cracks, or discoloration. The windshield is the only piece that is not original. The chrome is in great condition. The front and rear bumpers have been replaced as well as the chrome window molding and some other various pieces. The door handles are original and could stand to be replaced or rechromed. Interior: Open either door and step into vintage Mustang accommodations. Nearly every piece in the interior of this Mustang is original. This interior is in excellent condition just like the day she rolled off the line. The original black vinyl seats are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, stains of any kind. The rest of the interior follows the same suit. There are no rips, tears, stains, cracks on the door panels, dash, headliner, carpet etc. The factory A/C unit is not hooked up so it does not work, either does the original AM radio. All of the windows roll up and down with ease and seal very nicely without leaks. Mechanical: Crack open the hood to expose the C code 289 2v. This V8 fires right up at the flick of the key and sounds great. The automatic transmission shifts effortlessly without any slippage. Bringing everything to a halt is a breeze with the powerful hydraulic braking system. The power steering makes this car a dream to drive. There is no steering slop, it tracks nice and true down the road and absorbs bumps with the greatest of ease. The air conditioning system is non functional and is partially in place. The car is missing the condenser, the idler pulley, and the lines that run from the compressor to the under dash unit. The undercarriage is super solid without any rust or patch work. The original floor boards are in excellent condition and are very strong. Frame rails, and other structural supports are also rust free and strong. This car is a true survivor cruiser. It is an absolute blast to get out on a curvy back road and just cruise. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this gorgeous 1966 Mustang.
