Vehicle Detail
This is a very unique find. This 1966 Chevy Impala Convertible is a second owner car that has spent it's entire life in Texas. The car has been fully restored and modified with many of today’s comfort amenities. The restoration is fully documented in pictures and parts/services invoices. This was a frame-off restoration. With the exception of the entire floor, the remainder of the body sheet metal is original and in excelent shape. All of the trim and crome pieces that could be replaced, were replaced with new. All of the mechanical parts of the convertible top were replaced when the top was re-covered. The body was stripped and repaired; all dents were hammered smooth and straightened. The interior was covered in Dynomat to control the sound and heat intrusion. The Paint, in my opinion, is a 7 out of 10. However, the car shows very well and most of the flaws are almost non-existant in daylight where most car shows take place. I tried to get photos of the imperfections, but they would not show up, but I think they need to be pointed out. There are sanding marks that show through on part of the deck lid and one of the body lines above the rear wheele fades a bit. There are also a few dry spots on the edge of the hood and doors that are not very noticeable. This is a fresh restoration and I would recomend that the car be driven and plan on a re-paint a couple years down the road. The car originally was equipped with a 283 cid, but has been upgraded to a 350 Ramjet with electronic fuel injection. The engine is connected to a turbo 350 transmission. Rear axle is the original 10-bolt with what seems to be a highway gear. An air ride suspension system is designed for both performance and comfort. The car has a new vintage air system to help extend the Texas crusing season well into the summer months. The Alpine stereo system was profecionaly installed and it is in my opinion... over the top. Finally, the car sits on 17 inch polished wheels with high performance tires. Most of this car was built with total dis-reguard for budget and it shows. The car is being sold due to lack of interest. This car has been rebuilt with a sense of maintaining its proud legacy while enhancing its beauty, performance and comfort. Own a vehicle that will provide years of comfort and pleasure!
