Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1965 Barracuda, Formula S, 4 Speed, zero rust. It is currently set up to look like a nostalgia drag car from 1965. The body is in grey primer and all of the graphics have been aged. It has decals in the windows that are appropriate for California in 1965. It is not a numbers matching car, but it does still have all of the Formula S parts! It is not a show car but is a really fun driver. It made the 500 mile trip to Mopars at the Strip last year with no problems 13-14 mpg. Mechanical, Front to Back..... 3 row radiator out of a 69 Barracuda, modified factory shroud with flex fan, 160 thermostat, runs cool. Front 4 piston disc brakes out of a 69 Barracuda, dual circuit master cylinder. Stock power steering, box and pump rebuilt within last 1000 miles. Built 1972 340, X heads, Wieand High Rise, brand new 750 Edelbrock carb, stock single point distributor and exhaust manifolds, 55+ pounds oil pressure, uses no oil. Commando valve covers and air cleaner. 11" Flywheel/clutch, (lightened flywheel) out of a 360 truck. Rebuilt factory tranny with factory Hurst shifter and knob. 3" single exhaust with Dynomax Super turbo and custom made 3" X 6" exhaust tip. 8 3/4" 3:91 Suregrip out of a 1972 Dart with overload shocks and adjustalbe pinion snubber. Front tires 175 70 X 14" with 6X14" excellent Cragar mags, Rear tires 245 60 X 14 with stock steel 14" rims. Interior, front to back.... Factory woodgrain steering wheel, one small crack at the bottom. Factory gauge cluster and tach. All dash gauges work except the tach and the oil light is disconnnected. The tach and card have been checked and are OK, the problem is in the wiring to the tach. Radio delete plate, Stewart Warner vintage Oil, Water, and Amp guages New dash pad cover. Fire extnguuisher. The finest in 1970's Hifi technology with a working FM 8 tract mounted on the floor, 100 watt power booster/equalizer, two 3 1/2" speakers in the factory dash location and two 6"X9's in the rear, not in the trunk panel, so the panel still folds up and down. New front legendary seats and foam, 3 point harnesses for the front seats, factory seat belts in back. Front seat belts are available if desired. New complete carpet, new headliner, original back seat and door panels. The entire interior metal has been painted in semi gloss black. All cranks, handles and trim have been cleaned and polished, arm rests are original and not cracked. Glass is good, originally tinted now clear. Tinted windshield has marks from windshield wipers. Exterior Front to Back... The only rust on this car was in the drivers rear quarter, it was professionally replaced with a donor quarter panel. Trunk/spare tire well picture shows foil tape used to plug holes that I didn't have the rubber plugs for. Bumpers are original, straight but show wear. Has working back up lights. Antenae is factory as car came with a radio. Pot metal trim is in fair to good condition, some pitting. Stainless is in good to very good all original, showing minor wear. Has factory Formula S badges on the front fenders. Windshield rubber has been replaced, rear window rubber is original. Roof rail weather strip, window wiskers, door welting have been replaced. New trunk weather strip is included. Included complete jack. Spare tire is original wide 14" formula S rim. I have taken the best trim off of several other cars and put all the best ones on this car. What doesn't work.... Windshield wipers, another switch and motor is included, oil pressure light is disconnected, electric choke on carb has never been hooked up. I have owned this car for almost 20 years and it was owned by a friend for about 15 years before that. I know this car well, if you have questions please ask. I even have the build sheet! I also have the original rebuidable (spun bearings) Commando 273 available. I will expect a depost of $500 with 48 hours of winning the auction, and ther remainder within 7 days, prior to pick up or shipping. I have the car listed locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction prior to it's completion. Please do not ask what the reserve price is, I have put this up for auction because I believe in the process. I would consider trading up or down for a nice 63-66 Dart or Valiant Station wagon. On Jan-17-11 at 15:06:58 PST, seller added the following information: Just a note, the interior is very very nice, but not perfect. I want no surprises for anyone. Questions please ask!On Jan-20-11 at 20:04:27 PST, seller added the following information: A friend just pointed out that the mirrors in the pictures are not the mirrors on the car. I took these pictures a while back and had since changed the mirrors to a larger, round head, chrome, vintage appropriate mirror. Sorry for the confusion.
