Vehicle Detail
Relisted with a low reserve Very early 1970 model BMW R75/5 (one of the earliest R75's to come to the states)...VIN number 2970026, manufacture date ??/10/69...numbers match on frame, data plate, and motor, this bike has 28,428 original miles and includes its original owners manual, its under-seat toolbox, most of its tool kit, and an additional booklit for those servicing their bike overseas. I did not rebuild the tach/speedo unit and it is currently not working but everything else on the bike works as it should…ie, all lights, electronic system, charging system, horn, etc. Bike runs excellent. Since this is such an early R75 a few different things worth mentioning include there is no turn signal indicator on the headlight bucket, the data plate is an original decal and is not riveted to the frame neck (picture below), the carbs are Bing numbers 1 and 2. The choke cables are spring loaded instead of the hard straight ones, there is an additional small adjustment screw on the frame next to the rear brake lever, and there are no side covers nor tabs to mount them on the subframe…this is all factory and BMW stopped doing this after a few models…all really neat BMW history worth mentioning. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that the original enamel emblems on the gas tank are both in very nice condition with no chips or cracked enamel…good luck bidding and you will not be disappointed… New parts include: rear main seal pistons piston rings tires mufflers rebuilt forks fork gators fork gator clamps fuel petcocks braded fuel lines fuel filters plug wires plug wire end caps spark plugs battery hold down straps low "euro" bars steering dampener handgrips rear view mirror throttle cables clutch cable brake cable choke cables seat foam seat cover seat hinges front and rear oil filter air filter all fluids gel battery (maintenance free) positive battery cable negative battery cable rubber sleeves (carb to head) rear turn signal bar transmission to drive shaft rubber boot rubber boot clamps round frame side covers (for swingarm) turn signal mounting hardware Work completed includes: bike disassembled and thoroughly cleaned rebuilt carbs with all new brass, gaskets, floats, stainless steel screws, and new diaphrams (very early production carb numbers 64/32/1 and 64/32/2) rebuilt and repainted choke mechanism rebuilt cylinder heads honed cylinders rebuilt original seat (sandblasted and painted seat pan, added new foam, new hardware, all new rubber bumpers and new seat cover) rebuilt left and right handlebar perch assemblies disassembled and cleaned left and right handlebar switches polished turn signal housings with the small red and amber reflectors polished wheels polished all clamps for carbs polished stainless steel wheel covers polished clutch lever polished brake lever polished fuel cap polished shock covers polished handlebar risers polished fork caps polished front brake support rods polished rear brake rod *Note* all aluminum polishing was done by hand using Mothers aluminum polish…no machines rebuilt forks (all new rubber internals) powder-coated battery brackets powder-coated license plate frame powder coated center stand polished out the original paint but did not repaint so it shows its original patina…. polished out the original paint on the frame but again left all scratches, etc for their patina Re-assembled bike, performed all adjustments, torques, tuning, and timing, etc and this bike now runs and rides like a Swiss watch.
