1970 Buick Electra 225 Custom convertible The Electra 225 was Buick's top of the line full-size model, and was offered as a 2- or 4-door hardtop or the range-topping convertible. 1970 was the last year for the Electra convertible and with that pretty much ended the American era for full-size rear-wheel drive big block cabriolets. In its final year, only 6,045 Electra convertibles were produced, the second lowest production for the convertible in its entire 12-year history (only 1959 Electra convertibles are rarer). For 1970, the Electra received different front-end styling than the '69, and all Electras were powered by GM's 370-hp 455 cubic inch (7.5 Liters) V8. Also standard was an automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes, while the convertible additionally came standard with power windows and a 2-way power seat. Optional extras were a 6-way power seat, power locks, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, and an underdash stereo 8-track player. The last year for the Electra convertible - this 1970 one owner example is in excellent original condition. Purchased new in Culver city California, it has always been a California / Northern Arizona vehicle. It still has the original Harvest gold paint and has always been garaged and well maintained. No restoration, no evidence of any rust, paint- or body-work. Although it has only seen a little over 400 miles of service in the last 7 years, it was always kept in operating condition. It just completed a 100+ mile trip and performed without a problem. The pictures speak for themselves and do not do any justice to the way this vehicle rides. This unmolested convertible has a little over 133.000 original miles on it and during the last few years spent most of its life with the top down inside a garage. Once a month it was driven to stay lubricated. The original paint shows it's age but still has some shine. The body is in excellent condition. There is one dent in the lower driver's side quarter panel (see pics). The interior shows well (see pics) with no cracks in the dash or the steering wheel. The front seat inserts have been replaced and the middle section of the rear seat has been replaced as well. all the glass is in good shape. The engine compartment is clean and neat. The top boot is in excellent shape. The glass window top is in poor condition and in need of replacement- the power top mechanism itself works fine. It does need the front bumper emblem replaced. Some nice document extras that come with the car are the original Purchase order, the 1970 Buick sales brochure and a two factory manuals for chassis and body. This car runs, drives, shifts and stops like it should and is ready to go! It is available for viewing in Scottsdale, Arizona.
