Vehicle Detail

I bought this car at an auction a few years back in Western Kansas and at the auction was the owners daughter and she told the following story; Her dad got it new in 1961 for his wife. She drove it until she died (therefore the auction). At her later age she had a hard time aiming it into the garage and thats when the side-scrapes got on the car. The car was maintained and serviced regularly by the local Ford dealer. I got it home from the auction and the engine was stuck, so I put a nice running 390 from the same era in it. Still have the original engine and it goes with the car for the restorer that wants matching numbers. I replaced the transmission at the same time with one that I knew was excellent. Both work fine and I have driven this car through traffic in town and at hiway speed. The body has no rust. I mean no rust!! I have had this car on my lift and looked it over good, and there is only very light suface-rust. Not a start of rustholes anywhere! I show pictures of all the dents on the body, the worst one being on the drivers door. The chrome is original and very decent, and the car must have been a late-year-61 with 1962 quarterpanel trim on it. Interior is original and drivers seat is a little torn. Backseat is fine. I have a new red, fitted carpet-kit that comes with the car. I left it out so a potential buyer could see the rust-free floors. It is an easy install. All glass is original and good and all power windows work fine. The convertible top is manual and needs some work. The motor and pump is missing, and there is a lever on the passenger side also missing. The drivers side has the lever and it is not a complicated piece to make from flat steel beeing that both sides are identical. I have hooked up a switch for the motor and screws that hold the convertible top cover, so it can be operated, and then the top can be put up or down. The top is in decent condition and has no holes but is very stiff and I beleive that it could be the original one. The car has original hubcaps and new white-wall tires on it. I have other projects and regretfully have to part with this one. It will not take much to have a show-car out of this one! Call me if yoiu have any questions; 785-393-9338
