Vehicle Detail
Rare 1966 Honda Cb160 racer with CB92 & CB93 Race Parts This is a very interesting 1966 Honda Cb160 with ultra rare Honda CR93 race kit parts. Basically this is a stock CB160 with the following original vintage Honda Racing, Benley & other parts added: Honda CR93 Alloy Racing Fuel Tank - including hold down strap & fuel cap CR93 Alloy Race Seat CR93 engine case breather tower CR93 intake manifolds Rare original Honda racing DID Alloy Rims Custom header pipes with 2 into 1 connection into CR92 Megaphone CB92 Benley Front Brake Fiberglass full fairing (unsure of origin) with removable fairing braces which mount to tabs welded to the front portion of the frame & existing bolts on middle of frame CL72 22mm carburetors (2) rearsets fabricated from CB160 & CB77 parts Modified CB77 side stand There is no speedometer fitted to the bike so mileage is unknown. I purchased this little gem out of California, where it was last Registered & Titled. I have an open transferable California title in one of the previous owners names. Before the bike came out to California it was registed in Nebraska, where they put a metal sticker on the frame with their state VIN numbers. The tail/brake light is wired to work & there is wiring to fit a headlight if one would want to register this bike for the street. It was previously registered for the street & it was last registered & on the road in California in 2004. The carburetors, fuel tap will need rebuilding, the oil & filter need changing, but it will run again without much more than that no problem. It has good compression & spins over freely Unfortunately there is a shallow dent in the left side of the tank, ( as shown in a couple of the pictures). This could be easily fixed while being repainted if a more restored look is desired. There are also a few small paint chips in the seat, tank & front fender. There is a functioning brake/tail light mounted inside the rear portion of the seat, which makes the bike usable on the street. Because this is a very rare Honda racing part, you may wish to remove the tail light, have the seat restored to original & mount the light under the seat. The upholstery on the seat is still obviously the original Honda type, featuring the rubberized upholstery like the top portion of the CYB77 racing seats. Cycle Guide had this to say about CR93s and the CB160 in their July 1967 article, "One look at the CR93 chassis and you can see how the CB160 came to be. It is our opinion that the CB160 is one of the best handling bikes in the world today - regardless of price. The CR93 frame and that of the CB160 are almost identical. The same applies to the forks, swinging arm and rear shocks." This is pretty high praise for the stock CB160! This is a very collectible bike at a sensible reserve!!
