Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one used 1993 chevy blazer which is in use so is road ready and is in fair to good condition for its age. I bought this blazer used 3 years ago and has been dependable for me but I am in need of something heavier for the work I"ve gotten into. The engine and tranny do just fine as well as the 4 wheel drive, cruise control, AC and heat. ***********************************THE NEGATIVES ARE:*********************************** rust or paint pealing (see photos) and ding area lower middle tail gate (see photo) (passenger) power window works but not great power locks work poorly too windshield is cracked (see photo) fan switch has low and high (needs replacing to aquire medium speed) Interior is fair with no rips or tears but has stains on carpet areas center council was missing when I bought it but gives more room There may be negatives I am forgetting and will update ad if they come to light! ******************************************POSITIVES:****************************************** engine tranny 4 wheel drive AC and heat cruise control all wipers, front and rear & rear de-icer good tires and new matching spare new power steering pump last year (2009) dec. 2010 new coil, cap, rotor, plugs & wires NOTE: will be replacing the needed brake pads before it sells since it just gave me notice (front I beleive) (you have it in writing here) I also have a custom made rack that attatches to the front end without doing any damage or changes to the truck and this allows you to carry very long items like a 24' ladder or long lumber and such. Just let me know if you could use this and I will include it in the sale. Its not been painted or fancy but it gets the job done!!! PLEASE feel free to ask questions since this is a used vehicle and will be sold as is On Jan-05-11 at 07:50:47 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE 1-5-11 :If you read the full description at the bottom of positive list I mentioned brakes!!! Front brakes were fine, just had some crud between the rodar and back plate shield making the noise I thaught was worn brake pads. Pads were under half life so I am going ahead and putting the new pads on anyway since they are paid for. I'll box up the old ones as spares. On Jan-05-11 at 09:12:25 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE 1-5-11 : So happens I was correct on brake pad wear and you can feel more comfortable knowing they have been replaced. When I got to the passenger side, the brake pads showed much more wear due to a piece of the brake wear indicator (metal tab) had worn the inner pad prematurely as well as the rotar. Already have the new rotar so your new pads will not wear prematurely again. In short, you have all new brake pads in front and one new rotar. I've had my small business (no not a mechanic) for 20 plus years and have always pulled my own maintenance on all my equipment only if I have the know how and brakes are fairly easy yet. I stated this to give you some idea as to how I care for all my equipment including the blazer. On Jan-06-11 at 14:03:50 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE 1-6-11: I have parked the vehicle for none use and pulled my insurance coverage from it since it has a bidder. On Jan-07-11 at 08:01:14 PST, seller added the following information: 1-7-11: Recently I was asked "could you tell me if there is any leaks or knocks? use any oil" and my answer was "No, there is no leaks that I am aware of or knocks? and doesn't use oil excessively or should I say abnormally because it be abnormal if it didn't use any. I want to add the fact that this blazer is a 93 which makes it about 18 years old (hence the low start bid) and has served me well and I did look it over well when I decided to sell it and upgrade to a larger truck which would suit my new work needs better. I gave it an extensive tune-up when I decided to sell by giving it a new distributer cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil. I keep all the old parts as spares and they will go with the truck when sold. In that time frame the brakes gave me notice of servicing as stated in the auction ad and are taken care of as stated in the updates. Again, I have parked it the other day for none use because someone bid on it and I also pull my insurance off it at that time since we also have a car that I can use temporarily. For anyone having to drive it a long distance back home, I would say the tires are better than half life with a brand new matching tire and rim for a spare. These are smooth riding tires not like mudders which can howl and vibrate, Please do read all of the ad before asking questions because all the negatives and positives are listed. On Jan-07-11 at 09:16:22 PST, seller added the following information: Did another thorough check on the blazer today and all checks out good although I am unable to drive it since I pulled the insurance off it the other day. Personally I think this vortec 6cyl. is really strong for its age and I say this because I have used it to pull a small 4 x 6 trailer full of firewood without hesitation. I do use regular drive when pulling loads and doing hills which is recommended anyway. Overdrive is not recommended in town driving either cause it causes you to brake more often which is not a well known fact. I would love to keep this blazer but cannot afford to license 3 vehicles so get it while you can. As a trade in for a brand new vehicle, I was offered $2,000. but declined since I was not in the market for a brand new vehicle nor can I afford it at this time. My low start bid reflects the negative issues noted in the auction ad but rest assured it is a good running vehicle and even better with the tune up I gave it! As I stated earlier, its parked now and with over half a tank of gas. A couple of other plusses: you can see it has an after market (heavy duty receiver hitch) and comes with two complete sets of keys with locking gas cap. As routine maintenance the last tank of gas got a bottle of sea foam which I do in winter weather. The only other negatives I found I missed was the doors have after market plastic rain caps and the drivers side had broke off which should show in the photos. On Jan-07-11 at 13:58:11 PST, seller added the following information: Someone asked me earlier "would she make the trip? to northern, mich." And my best answer to that would be " I live in southern IL. and have family up in mid wisconsin and would not hesitate taking the blazer at this time of the year (winter) over using our car but would take our car in summer since it gets 30 plus MPG. " These blazers get around 17 MPG, give or take, I THINK and its all on how you drive. I do know from experience the harder you drive them the gas milage goes down. On Jan-08-11 at 20:23:45 PST, seller added the following information: Have a couple of added goodies to go with the blazer. Blazer already has a heavy duty (5,000 lb max load X 500 lb tongue weight) after market receiver hitch. The added goodies are: one chevy emblem brake light for the receiver hitch as well as a three way ball hitch. Ball sizes are 1+7/8"----2"----2+5/16"
