Vehicle Detail

Very rare 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 Roadster, non catalytic car, one of very few imported through the Port of Galveston. This car has a significant history, having been extensively restored on two seperate occasions. Modifications include replacement of original 2.0 L engine with a more desireable rebuilt 1973 2.0 L, built by Dennis Sherman of San Diego. 911 front suspension with 5 bolt big rotor brakes, 914-6 rear stub axles for 5 bolt big rotor (original front) brakes. Autopower roll bar, 5 point Simpson harnesses in factory mounts. Rear fenders are flared to accomidate 8" wide wheels with turbo spacers on wheels. The flare work was accomplished entirely through metal work (stretching) and involved no welding or fillers. Other minor body modifications include removal of exterior marker lights, windshield washer nozzles and rolling of fender lips to accomodate larger wheels and tires. 15 x 8 Factory Cookie Cutter wheels rear, 15 x 7 Factory Cookie Cutter wheels front, all 5 bolt mounted. BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires. Car was recently moved to complete a restoration of all fuel system components, during which the rear transmission (transaxle) mount was broken by the towing company. The restoration work on the fuel system and repair of the transmission mount can be completed prior to delivery by seller, at cost. The cost of these two items are in addition to the selling price. Please contact seller for additional information. Seller has owned the car since 1978, and has used as a daily driver, autocross and PCA timetrials, and recreational driving. The car has much to offer the right buyer. The car should be considered a "club sport' and therefor lacks many comfort items in favor of enhanced performance. Mileage is estimated only.On Dec-31-10 at 11:37:35 PST, seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON TRANSMISSION MOUNTS: The Transaxle mounts to the chasis by two cast arms that are a part of the rear cover of the transmission. These castings are prone to breakage, and often are welded up. On e bay, there are rear transmission covers for sale as New Old Stock for less than $ 200. Most rear covers for sale are from early model cars, but are easily used for late model transmissions by sealing a hole in the casting used for the shift linkage on early models. Check with a mechanic for the best way to do that, or from a seller on e bay with experience. ADDITIONAL INFORMATON ON THE FUEL SYSTEM RESTORATION: The fuel tank has been removed for inspection, and is in good shape. The lines between the tank and the pump, and between the fuel filter and fuel pump and the engine, should be replaced as they are prone to high pressure leaks and often result in fire. These repairs are minimal expense for parts (fuel line, clamps and filter ) and some labor time.On Jan-04-11 at 20:02:56 PST, seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SHIPPING AND DELIVERY PREP: We are experienced in shipping race and collector cars worldwide, and also have expertise in project managment of restorations.
