Hello, you have the opportunity to own this 1959 Renault Dauphine. It has been mecahanically restored and updated by a good Renault mechanic. I started with a good sound car from southern California, I updated the brakes with later disc brakes, installed an R-8 engine and transmission, a custom made cooling system with a front mounted radiator, and many other little improvements. This car is the "Alaska Renault Trip" car. I drove it from Austin, Texas to Alaska and back this summer (2010--see the full story on Facebook.com if you like), 10,000 miles with no breakdowns. This is a nice, fun car to drive, very reliable, everyone who drives it says it drives really well. I have listed all the work and modifications done to the car below: Engine: 1965 R-8 1108 with 956cc pistons and cylinders (new), new rod bearings. All new seals and gaskets, except timing chain cover gasket. New water pump, new clutch, rebuilt carburetor, converted to electronic ignition, converted to an alternator (Geometro) Cooling System: front mounted VW Golf new radiator, new coolant pipes to front, new rubber hoses, new thermostat, new fan switch (automatic cooling fan control), new VW Golf coolant tank, and new fan belt. Electrical System: New battery, new ignition switch, new headlight dimmer switch. All new bulbs, updated windshield wiper motor (Alliance). Transmission: 1965 R-8 (330 gearbox). All new seals, new shift couplers, custom made shift linkage. Rear Suspension: new shocks, new wheel bearings, converted to R-8 rear trailing arms. Front Suspension: All new bushings. New steering coupling, new shocks, new wheel bearings. Tires are very good. Brakes: Front converted to discs. All calipers rebuilt, new master cylinder, new brake hoses, new front rotors, new brake pads. Interior: Installed 1963 Caravelle front seats (more comfortable). Three-point shoulder harness, with reinforced mounting points for front seats only. Rear seat back needs reupholstering. Floor mats need replacing or carpeting. Interior has been insulated. New windshield rubber, new rear window rubber, and new outer seal door rubber, new pedal pads. And much more--All this work has been put into this car to make it a nice driving car you can drive anywhere. All the work was done in the last 16,000 miles, and has been tested very thoroughly.
