this truck was originally built in los angeles, california then shipped to a dealer in nevada where it lived in the desert until the 1990's. The truck was originally the tan "sand" color from the factory, but it was painted forest green in the 90's. When it was painted body work was not done, so any dent that happened since 1956 is still there. there is a dent in the tailgate that looks like someone backed into a trailer hitch. the body on this truck is without a doubt the most rust free body on the east coast without the truck being restored. In 2005 it won 1st place in the east coast Truckin nationals show in pigeon forge, tn. It is 6 cyl engine and three on the tree shift. the starter pedal is still in the floor. This is a running and driving truck, tagged and insured in va. it just placed third out of over a hundred entries in the local christmas parade pulling our church float. this truck does have one option that most people have never seen on these trucks, since the truck was built for the west coast, there was less traffic out there then. This truck does not have any turn signals, no left or right blinkers of any kind. it has only one tailight on the drivers side. There is nothing on the steering column for turn signals, the wiring harness does not have anything planned for it. This really is a unique option that i have never seen on a truck from the east coast. earlier year models did not have signals, but most all 56 model had them. the tires are monarch bias ply tires so for the first few miles its a rough ride but then they smooth out as good as bias ply can. This is a running and driving truck that is garage kept. Now i did say it has whatever dents have came its way in 54 years, so don't expect a boyd coddington body job on it, the door gaps may be off, but they were in 56 when it was new, speaking of doors they open and close without having to pick them up. if you have owned on of these you know what i am talking about. if you have any specific questions please email, if you are close you can come buy and we can go for a ride as it is legal for the road. note: if you are not from virginia i will keep the license plates, if you are from virginia i will let them go with the truck. the title is clear and in my name. Thanks for looking and have a Merry ChristmasOn Dec-24-10 at 07:15:05 PST, seller added the following information: i had lots of questions wanting to see other views, so i'm adding some shots. the bed you can see some of the hay is still there from the christmas parade, the interior shot shows the seat, it is some hidous green so i left the seat cover on it when i'm riding around. the underside shows the spare tire, who know how long it been there, im betting it would not hold air for too long. the one shot is the drivers side front cab mount, it is all still there, its not eat out and full of leaves and mud. The window shot shows the drivers side vent window is cracked and the windshield has bubbles showing down at the bottom. and was asked about the instruments, all work but the gas gauge is not reliable, it does move when truck is turned on, but not accurate. speedometer is unhooked becauseit was noisy, it works just noisy. if i have missed anything else you would like to know please ask.
