Vehicle Detail
1980 Fiat Spider 2000-Manual-Red/Black-Custom Paint-Custom Exhaust-Custom Suspension-Custom Brakes Car was bought in 2006 from central Wisconsin where the previous owner stored the car in a garage 100% of the time. Car was in good shape and was driven through that summer and always garaged. In late summer 2007 the car underwent an exterior and interior transformation which included painting Red and Flat black to match the Fiat Abarth rally car. The interior was done in all black with custom buckets being mounted, and rear seats removed leaving a nice carpeted storage area. The car was driven through the summer of 2008 and underwent another transformation bringing the handling and overall performance in line with the exterior styling. This included removing all front suspension components and replacing the stock shock setup with a QA1 adjustable coilover setup up front and Bilstein dampers and custom eibach springs in the rear. All bushings including steering, control arm, and knuckle were replaced and suspension components were powder coated in red and black. At this same time the front brakes were improved by using a Honda sourced big brake rotor, and caliper matched to a custom manufactured billet aluminum bracket. The calipers both front and rear were powder coated black. Rear calipers were completely rebuilt and rotors were replaced along with all stainless steel brake lines including flexible lines running from the tunnel to the rear axle. To match the braking and suspension the car was fitted with an IAS 4-2-1 header and a custom 2.5" exhaust was fabricated with flex pipe, front resonator and rear mounted muffler. To keep things sporting the wheels and tires were replaced with BBS weaves powder coated black wrapped in Falken Azenis tires(2500 miles). This car is not a show queen and has a few faults. The rear springs are oversprung for the road, but would be great at keeping the car planted and grip up front for autocross, the heater valve needs to be replaced as its leaky and was bypassed, the tan top doesn't match, and I am sure a long list of minor nuances as with any classic car. This car is reliable. I have commuted to work in this car on sunny days when road construction was a minimum on my route, and driven long distance. My priorities have changed from road car to racing, and my time and focus needs to be spent on my race car. If you have a serious inquiry please contact me via my phone number listed. I do not have the stock bumpers they were donated to the local fiat clubs parts stash. I have none of the other stock parts, they have all been donated, or sold. Everyone seems very concerned with rust, and its a fair concern. When I painted the car I did a good job of sealing things up, but here are the flaws in detail. Rear Passengers Quarter 1.25in diameter bubble.Hood on leading edge has paint inconsistencies on outer most edge, not rust related. The undercarriage is clean, and with the exception of some rust on bolt heads.PLEASE CALL FOR MORE DETAILS!847-513-3649On Dec-16-10 at 12:56:34 PST, seller added the following information: Not a turbo BUT.Many people think this car is a Turbo car... it is not. It is a naturally aspirated model. The eventual goal was to built a light Turbo setup within the restraints of the transmission and differential. I since then bought a race car, and got caught up in my business so my desire to increase power was shadowed by other interests. That being said I will take into consideration the idea of a potential buyer commissioning a turbo build. This would involve the following: T2X based oil cooled turbo.Custom welded manifold Front mount intercooler/open air BOVLarger Injectors(30lbs) and Rising Rate Fuel Pressure RegulatorWalbro Fuel Pump The stock engine has a lower compression(8:1:1) ration and a good head gasket can hold well over 12 psi, but a daily driver boost would be safely be around 8psi-10 psi. This would boost horsepower from its current 100-115 estimates to around 150-160. I would tune the fuel pressure using a wideband to ensure safety. Please call to discuss this option further.
