Vehicle Detail
Introduction: Up for auction is a stunning 1970 Mustang Convertible dressed out in Calypso Coral with Mach 1 accents and accessories, giving this Mustang the stance and aggressive appearance of a fastback, with the enjoyment of a drop top convertible. Of nearly 200,000 Mustangs produced in '70 only 7,673 were convertibles. Only the Boss 302 and Boss 429 were rarer models for that year. Exterior: Drenching all of the classic Mustang lines is the very desirable Calypso Coral finish. All of the original sheet metal is in great shape. The paint and body are in excellent condition with no rust, dents, or scratches. There are a few of small nicks in the paint mostly confined to the front lower valance and headlight brows, the have all been touched up with color matched paint and are hardly detectable. The painted on Mach 1 graphics along with the hood scoop, chin spoiler, and blacked out tail panel, really bring the whole car together. The windshield is the only piece that is not original. The chrome is in excellent condition. Front and rear bumpers along with taillight bezels are brand new. All of the lights work headlights, taillights, side markers, turn signals, turn signal indicators in the hood. Interior: Open either door and step into vintage Mustang accommodations. The deluxe interior is in excellent condition. The original white Comfortweave vinyl seats are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, stains of any kind. The rest of the interior follows the same suit. There are no rips, tears, stains, cracks on the door panels, dash, carpet etc. The power convertible top works quickly and smoothly and cinches down nice and tight. All of the windows are crystal clear without any cracks, chips, or scratches and they roll up and down with ease. Car comes with two white vinyl tonneau covers. It was extremely cold when I took these pictures so I had difficulty getting the cover to stretch all the way on, but both covers are in excellent condition with no rips or tears. Mechanical: Crack open the hood to expose the original F code 220 HP 302 2v. This V8 fires right up at the flick of the key and sounds absolutely incredible. This car is a true cruiser and is able to cruise at about 70-75mph with no troubles. The automatic transmission shifts firmly and accurately. Bringing everything to a halt is a breeze with the power disc brakes. The car also has power steering which makes it a dream to drive. This Mustang has 4 brand new American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels wrapped in brand new rubber. This car drives great!! There is no steering slop, it tracks nice and true down the road and absorbs bumps with the greatest of ease. The undercarriage is super solid without any rust. The original floor boards are in excellent condition and are very strong. The torque boxes, frame rails, and other structural supports are also rust free and super strong. It is an absolute blast to get out and drop the top on a curvy back road. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this gorgeous 1970 Mustang Convertible.
