Vehicle Detail
Here is the original, acclaimed, all-weather, high-performance 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon. An all-wheel-drive, turbocharged missile for hauling people, groceries and, well, a word I won’t use in polite company. It’s in excellent condition with 122K miles, aftermarket wheels, JDM headlights, intake mod and a pile of fun. I’ll miss her dearly... Here, in no particular order, are some details... - One of the fog light lenses is cracked. It’s been mended and fully functional, but for ultimate appearance, you may want to replace it. - There are two issues with the console between the front seats. The latch that holds the console lid occasionally comes adrift, and there’s a rattle inside the console. - The engine short block was replaced in August 2007. (During a bit of a traffic emergency, I stupidly over-reved the engine and spun a bearing.) The work was done by the good folks at Calkins Subaru in Lewistown, Pa. where I originally bought the car new. - The intake mod was the popular change to draw cool intake air directly from under the front passenger fender … instead of forcing it to go the whole way through the obnoxious “snorkus.” The result is a slight increase in intake noise, a slight decrease in low end power and a big improvement in throttle response. - If you really want the snorkus parts, I've got 'em. Likewise, I have the roof rack cross pieces buried somewhere in my garage. If you buy her, remind me to give them to you. Ditto for the cover for the rear storage area. - The original dashboard clock, a frequent source of trouble for Impreza owners, has been replaced with a new one. Not a repaired one. A new one. - The car has current Pennsylvania emissions and safety inspection stickers (good until April 2011). Fill it up with gas, and it will be ready to go anywhere. Fast. - The good folks at Calkins generated their service records for the WRX, and you can see them here: http://www.buffingtonassociates.com/BuffWRXServRec.pdf As you can see in those records, the clutch and timing belt have been replaced. Please note that the Calkins records only show major service events. Since Calkins is more than an hour away from my home, any minor or routine service was performed by me or by a local shop. - The tires are Sumitomos, model HTR+ model. They're M+S (mud and snow) tires, but I very highly recommend them for year-round use. I don't have a tread gauge, but they shouldn't need replaced any time soon. Fine Print: This is a relist, a result of the confusion created when an irresponsible bidder withdrew his bid a the last minute. If you are not willing and able to pay, don't bid.
