Vehicle Detail
Here is your chance to get your hands on a 37 year old actual unrestored, unmolested 1973 XR 75 KO a a reasonable price. I picked this little guy up years ago for my then 9 year old son, and the agreement him was that it would be sold when he went off to college to help him with the costs (thank you Cal State trustees for raising tuition 25 % this year alone). Anyway, all I did at that time (10 years ago) was to change the oil, clean up the engine side cases and put new tires and grips on it. My son rode it maybe 5-6 times. The engine has not been rebuilt, it is in excellent condition. It runs extremely well, I cleaned up the carb, put some fuel in it yesterday and cruised the neighborhood. It is smooth and pulls harder than my CT90 trailbke...what a great runner. Now, the rest of the bike is as most older kid bikes are, dents, scratches, rust here and there.....but I never wanted to restore this one to full monty....it has big time patina that only unrestored bikes and vehicles can have. Front forks have light pitting, seals still hold oil. The right side number plate has a scuff from a bizzare trailer accident, but is easily straightened out. The muffler is dented, not rusted through anywhere. Both sides of tank are dented, and I noticed that the tank has a very small weeping leak from the seam on the bottom right side, easy to Kream seal it from inside. It will drip a bit when sitting overnight. The hand grips are tired and need to be replaced. All original decals are there. The bike has the stock air cleaner set up. You might want to go the route with it.... your call, and if you do, this one is the best platform for restoration that you will ever get your mits on, because it has all the parts, everything, including the rare square front plate is there. Check out the california green sticker for off road vehicles from 1980 on it! I'll throw in my documentation package, which includes the original 1973 cycle world review of the bike, a Haynes manual, an original Honda workshop manual, and the original California "pink slip" ownership certificate (date of original sale is 3-09-73). I never registered it, so it will come with a bill of sale. If you have questions, let me know and I'll do my best to take some more pictures. No Reserve, and this is another Rimshot! Auction, which means if you don't like the item, for any reason, get it back to us in as sold condition, and we will gladly refund your purchase costs. I will cooperate with shipping, but can not crate, or otherwise transport outside of local area. Buyer is responsible for local pick up or shipping. Good luck and thanks for looking!
