Vehicle Detail
Pontiac 2+2 Nascar Aerocoupe has a 350 H.O. motor with 200 miles in it Please read whole ad before making offer or bidding I‘m parting with is one of the rarest cars of the 1980s. In a decade where there are few collectible cars, one car does stand out and it is the 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe. It was a one-year homologation special based on the 1978-vintage Grand Prix notchback, with unique styling features intended to make Richard Petty and other Pontiac pilots more competitive in the “aero war” then raging on NASCAR super tracks. Seeking to reduce air drag to the max, designer Terry Henline crafted a laid-back twin-nostril grille, huge “bubble-back” rear window, and four inch-high spoiler on a deckled shortened to match the big backlight. All this helped the racers somewhat, but only 1118 street cars were built to qualify the model as “production” ran only a mild 5.0 liter (305 CID) V8 barrel, linked to a four-speed automatic transmission. Happily, the street cars also came fully loaded with gas-filled shocks, high-rate springs, beefier sway bars and 15X7” Rally wheels with Eagle GT performance tires. Other pluses were fast-ratio power steering, extra gauges, air, cruise control, power windows and door locks, front bucket seats, center console and a leather-rim tilt steering wheel. A cousin to Chevrolet’s similarly styled Monte Carlo SS, the 2+2 was initiated first, but not produced as long. Not really a successor to the brash late-Sixties 2+2s, but a modern semi-custom with obvious collector appeal. The car is seriously rare with a production run of only 1118, and it has a NASCAR connection. It is well-equipped and has strong appreciation potential and value. It is a semi-hand built car and sometimes looks like it, but a nice collector car nonetheless. This is very low production number car and deserves a New owner that can do it up right .With a little work on the brakes I could use it as a daily driver With such a fresh ( new) engine I could drive it for another 20 years, I have so many project my wife says I will never finish them all . I up dated my 2+2 with items that GM should of but because they were cost prohibited on such a short run 350 HO crate engine (under 200 miles) This is the GM factory crate engine not a rebuilt that currently lists for around 2800 with out accesories ( long block , without carb water pump , balancer , intake, distributor ) these were all purchased and installed on the motor Check it out at GM performance Part number 12486041 This is a 300 hp motor with all the factory parts straight from GM to make it work on the computer and look stock under hood Stainless exhaust dual cat back using Buick grand national style pipes in a very heavy guage stainless 700 r 4 transmission (89 B-body) adapted to the g body with wiring special drive shaft and mounts The computer was updated using all the power manual parts for the HO 350 Camaro conversion (this included computer chip , carb peices and other parts to keep engine stock looking and emission legal in most states the rear end is the stock limited slip that keeps both wheels going the interior has all the options and full guages that the car came with I have owed this car since 1989 showing it driving it having it called a monte carlo a lot . it has even had a lap of Mich International Speedway. It is always attracting attention I have the invoice from pontiac so this is the real deal the brakes need work from setting The interior needs redone (have some extra parts for ) The paint has lacquer cracks will need paint The body has some rust nothing not repairable mostly in the floors caused by the back window that leaked It will need floors from another G body selling the car for all the special limited production part that comes with a 2+2 has all the peices from the front spoiler with the often missing support to the bubble rear window I have alot of info on this car original owners manual shop manual, magazine articals pictures at the new car show and some nascar items for shows This car has not been passed around a dozen owners as you would expect in a 25 year old car I bought it in 1989 and have have driven it all over.If a new owner can not be found I will start driving this classic again This would be a great street car to drive Body kits with all the 2plus parts are 3 grand and fiberglass this is factory poly If you want a 2 plus to customize or restore you wont find a titled one for less has all the peices from the front spoiler with the often missing support to the bubble rear window If you want a original show car don’t look at this one but could be once again back in the 90s it was winning shows it deserves the right owner so it can again. If you want a cool car to drive with a little work you could cruise for a long time in this If you need just the engine and tranny the price is a bargin over the GM dealer Please ask any questions before bidding this car is for sale locally starts and drives ( due to weak brakes suggest trailering home ) If you are looking for 2+2 parts they are hard to find this car can be used to convert any 81-87 grand prix into a nascar replica like petty use to drive the invoice is sept 86 it may be one of the last produced the car does need redone but is all there contact me with any questions will even entertain offers of the car with out the 300hp engine having owned this car for over 20 years I have lots of information on it and can answer any of your questions You will recieve a good title make a offer and this rare pontiac can be yours to restore or race Due to the age of the car selling as is where is Please ask any questions I accept the following payment methods PayPal (including credit cards) for deposit then cash or certified funds when car is picked up Title will change hands once final payment is made or funds clear Will sell world wide and will work with your shipper to get the car to you Local pickup please time is not a issue once car is paid for funds must clear before title changes hands Iam not knowledgeable in shipping accross country but will help load if buyer arranges for it The car is being sold as is due to age it does run good see discription above for details I am a certifiable car nut I love to drive my cars I drove this car since 1989 and it always was fun to explain what it is . With low production numbers well worth fixing up with such low production soon they will all be in the hands of collectors If you have any questions please ask them before bidding. Will answer questions as quickly as possible A informed bidder is a good bidder shop manual autoshow
