NOTE: It is not possible to find a stock car that is faster, better made car, than an E39 M5 for under $20k probably for another 5 years. I am selling my 2000 M5, rare Anthracite color. It is a beautiful sports saloon and runs as solid as an M5 should. It's very hard to find a car with such complete detailed history from a BMW Dealership. Please run a carfax report and find out for yourself. This alone should give you (the buyer) enough confidence to know how much this M5 has been cared for so far. The M5 has always been garaged to this day. Every option (including navigation), every tiny light bulb works perfect. This M5 is Dealer Maintained. The mileage is more of an indication that lots of parts are new on the M5 and will not need the expensive "future attention" a lower mileage M5 would. Even a low mileage car can have major problems if it's not maintained properly. No accidents, no stories, no reversed mileage, no paint work...it is quite difficult to find an E39 M5 like this. I only use the car for pleasure driving and what an absolute pleasure it is to drive! It not only provides the luxury comfort of an E39 5-series, but when demanded by the gas pedal foot, 8 individual throttle bodies will suck in air to deliver 400hp, enough to make many sports car drivers break sweat. Just imagine what this car can do with a few mods... The M5 is completely stock except for: BMW Z3M short Shifter (stock gear throws are long), AITS Relocation Kit (common modification for the E39 M5). It is just an amazing machine to drive and own if you are a "Car Guy" or a BMW M Enthusiast. Remember, this is an M5; if you are on a budget you should not consider ever buying an M5. It is a Driver's Car and like any other high-end sports cars, it costs money to maintain it properly. Feel free to contact me with any questions if you are interested. The price tag on the receipts range from a few hundred dollars to some receipts being over $3,000. Lots of work was done under BMW Warranty. No maintenance was ever ignored! The receipts add up to over $40,000 of service work over the 10 years. This is how an M5 should always be maintained. Clutch was replaced around 130k. An E39 M5 that comes with 400hp, 0-60 4.6s, top speed of 180mph+, in this condition should be a lot more; due to mileage I am being considerate with the asking price. It's for a Driver that cares about serious performance, automobile built quality, and social respect. A V-8 400hp car these days would be a Charger SRT-8, Challenger SRT-8, 300C SRT-8 in the price range past $20k. However, a stock E39 M5 is still faster. I am gladly willing to keep the M5 for many more years to come; there is no way I will find a replacement at this price range.
