Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is a gray 1986 Nissan 300zx. This car has 167,000 miles and a clear Colorado title. It is the non-turbo version. "Enthusiasts praise the cars for their looks, reliability, performance, and affordability. Nissan Z cars currently hold the record for the best selling sports car series of all time with over 2 million cars sold." - Wikipedia page on the Nissan Z. This car has a 3.0 Liter V6 engine and 5 speed manual transmission. It is a sports car through and through, and certainly drives like one! Lots of recent maintenance work has been done, so please read the entire listing. The interior features full power options, including power windows, power mirrors, power locks, and power driver's seat (five different controls!). It has red dash lights that show off the full instrument cluster (not the digital dash, but that's probably for the better anyway!) It has 2 trip odometers, and a gas tank gauge with a second needle for precise measurements from 1/4 tank to empty in addition to the tachometer, speedometer, and coolant temperature gauge. Check engine light is not on and all the dash lights work well, even the light which illuminates when one of the exterior driving lights is out (the passenger high beam is out currently). All the gauges and the interior electronics work. The cruise control also works well. It has a sony Xplod flip face CD player which sounds great. Dash is not cracked. The seats and carpet have a few stains and are a bit broken in. See pictures. It is missing the ashtray and dome light cover. It also needs rear speakers, though the front speakers sound fine. The antenna control does not work (button has broken from its mounting and the top half of the antenna has broken off, radio still comes in clear). The glove box latches shut but the latch mechanism comes loose once opened. The heat works great though the vents do not go to cool, even if the slider is in the ‘cool’ position. The headliner hangs down a little on the driver’s side, but not too bad. Mechanically, the car is in good shape. In the last 10,000 – 15,000 miles the water pump and battery were replaced. The brakes were also done fairly recently, and are very responsive (4 wheel disc brakes!). The alternator was replaced within the past month. It also has new inner tie rod ends on both sides, a fresh oil change, differential fluid change, and transmission fluid change. The cooling system was also just flushed. It has a K&N air filter which was also just recharged. The clutch works well, however it engages a bit high on the pedal. It does not slip. All four struts are in good shape. There is a sound coming from the rear of the car (possibly the left side). It is something like a scraping sound, and only happens above 15 – 20 MPH during acceleration and deceleration. It seems to get quieter with hard acceleration. A mechanic looked at it and thought it was coming from the rear differential, but did not open anything up to do a thorough diagnosis. It has been driven this way for some time. The front tires are in great shape and are nice Lemans performance tires. The rear tires have low tread and should probably be replaced soon (see pictures). I am not sure of the timing belt history. However, the timing belt does not appear to be worn out or have any cracks or broken teeth. Based on how it looks, it seems safe to conclude that the belt was replaced twice at the 60,000 mile intervals, and shouldn’t need to be replaced again until at least 180,000 miles. The transmission shifts smoothly and the engine has plenty of power. Amazingly, there doesn’t seem to be ANY fluid leaks except for the power steering, which does need a top off once in a while. No engine oil leaks, transmission fluid leaks, etc. that I have found! The exterior is in ok condition. There are some rust spots (see pictures). There is a dent in the hood and it looks like one of the quarter panels must have been sanded and primered at some point (it’s been that way for a while). The hood struts have been removed as they were not working properly, however a ‘custom’ 2x4 for holding up the hood comes with the car. It wouldn’t take too much in body work and paint to make this car look really good. Flip up lights work great, go up and down no problem. Windshield is cracked. Missing one lug nut in the driver's rear, may need a new post to attach a new one. The nozzle for the passenger side windshield wiper fluid is missing, the driver's side operates but is starting to break. The rear wiper does not turn on but the rear defrost and rear wiper fluid function normally. Other things – the AC has been removed (wasn’t working anyway) but the condenser and mounting bracket are included with the car. The tensioner pulley for the AC was somehow lost in the removal but it’s a very straightforward part and could probably be replaced with a generic pulley of some sort if the AC was re-installed. It is also missing the spare tire and jack. It has the wiring for an amplifier (heavy duty fused wire running from battery through firewall to the interior and audio out cable going from the head unit). Although there is no amp currently installed it would be easy to put one in. Do a little research online and you will find there are plenty of these 300zx’s with 300,000 + miles! These cars were built really well, and are known for longevity and reliability. That’s probably why they are officially the best-selling sports cars of all time! One mechanic I spoke to commented “these cars just seem to keep going and going.” Shipping – I have a truck and flatbed trailer that I can use to help get this car to you. I am near Denver, Colorado. For a very reasonable price (mostly just cover my gas expenses) I am willing to drive up to 400 - 500 miles, or maybe more (email me for details). I love seeing new places and taking road trips so I am very willing to work with you! I can also help with shipping arrangements with an auto carrier (IE Dependable Auto Shippers, Reindeer Auto Shipping, Auto and Boat, etc.) Thanks for looking! On Nov-09-10 at 09:34:48 PST, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention - the console compartment looks like it had some crayons melt in it at some point, it is a little messy at the bottom. It also needs a rear view mirror and the passenger side mirror is not a perfect fit (the original was broken, replaced with a generic one).
