Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1948 Buick 56S Sedanette. Car was purchased from the original owner with 59,000 miles on it in the mid-seventies. A partial restoration was completed at that time. NOS fenders, stone shields, fender skirts, and assorted other parts where put on the car and it was stripped and painted with Bill Hirsch Royal Maroon Laquer at that time. The car currently has no rust with the rockers, floor pans, and frame in excellent condition. The Laquer paint has cracked over the years in various areas of the body. When cleaned up the car looks good from fifty feet, but as you get closer you can see the cracks in the paint. All trim is in place and in good condition. The interior paint was cleaned, but was not repainted. The interior was replaced with a combination of Bill Hirsch and LeBaron-Bonney fabrics. The only variation from a stock interior is carpeting in the front instead of a rubber floor mat, and carpet in the trunk. All gauges work as well as the radio which has also had fm added. The interior is in excellent condition. During the partial restoration NOS shocks, carburetor, clutch disc and plate, throw-out bearing, complete exhaust sytem, and complete brake sytem where also installed. Since the partial restoration the brakes have been rebuilt again, the radiator has been re-cored, the ingnition system and windshield wiper motor have been replaced. Radial tires and lowered coils have aslo been added. The only problems known at this time are a slight oil leak in the engine compartment (possibly the valve cover or side cover), and the paint is cracking in various locations on the body. The car starts, stops, runs, and drives well. It was driven to Charlotte, North Carolina from Dayton, Ohio in March of this year. Car was on the back cover of the January 1986 Buick Bugle (Published by the Buick Club of America) with a short article on pages 18-19. Car is for sale locally and I have the right to end the auction at any time. Car was listed here on ebay but did not meet the reserve. I have lowered the reserve and the buy it now price. I have no problem assisting in shipping the car from my location, but will not assist in aquiring shipper or transport to shipper.
