THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE NICEST ORIGINAL 1978 GS1000E IN EXISTANCE.ONE OWNER BIKE, HAVE TITLE TO PROVE IT. THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS METICULOUS IN THE CARE OF THIS BIKE. KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NOT EVEN WASHED THIS BIKE. ALL I DID WAS REMOVE THE WINDJAMMER FAIRING, FRONT AND REAR CRASH BARS, SISSY BAR/REAR RACK COMBO THAT WERE ON IT SINCE NEW. I WIPED IT DOWN TO GET THE DUST OFF, WAXED THE TANK AND DETAILED THE PIPES. THE ORIGINAL PAINT IS FANTASTIC. GLOSSY, VIBRANT, DEEP HUE. A COUPLE OF VERY TINY CHIPS IN THE FRONT THAT HE TOUCHED UP, ONE ON THE TOP REAR OF THE TANK THAT IS THE SIZE OF THE HEAD OF A NEEDLE, NOT A PIN. SEAT IN IN EQUALLY PHENOMENAL CONDITION. FOAM FIRM, COVER SOFT AND PLIABLE, LOWER PAINTED TRIM EXCELLENT. STILL HAS THE WARNING STICKER ON THE REAR GRAB RAIL. FRONT FENDER HAS NO DENTS, OR OTHER DAMAGE BESIDES A MINOR SCRATCH OR TWO. ABSOLUTELY NO PITTING ON THE CHROME. EXHAUST IS PROBABLY THE NICEST STOCK EXHAUST ON ANY MOTORCYCLE I'VE SEEN. NO DAMAGE TO THE HEADER PIPES, MUFFLERS. CHROME IS BEAUTIFUL EVEN UNDERNEATH.GAUGES, HANDLEBAR CONTROLS, TURN SIGNALS, HEADLIGHT ALL IN PRISTINE CONDITION. HEADLIGHT RING HAS A SMALL SCRATCH ON TOP. A SMALL BRACKET IS MOUNTED TO THE TOP OF THE LEFT HAND CONTROL SWITCH FOR AN ACCESSORY HE HAD ON IT AT ONE TIME. A SMALL AMONT OF CORRISION ON THE LOWER STATOR COVER FROM MOISTURE COLLECTING BETWEEN IT AND THE CRASH BARS FROM YEARS OF STORAGE. FRAME PAINT IS NICE AS WELL, JUST SOME SMALL SCRATCHES/SCUFFS ON THE TOP OF THE DOWN TUBES FROM THE WINDJAMMER MOUNT. LIKEWISE NO REAR PEGS, IT HAD REAR CRASH BARS MOUNTED WHEN NEW AND THEY BOLTED TO THE PASSENGER PEG MOUNTS. THE NEW OWNER IS WELCOME TO THE BARS. THIS BIKE HAD NOT BEEN TAGGED SINCE 2000, THE LAST YEAR RIDDEN.THE TANK AND CARBS WERE DRAINED PRIOR TO STORAGE. THE OWNER HAD A SUZUKI DEALER NEAR HIM DIS-ASSEMBLE THE CARBS, CLEAN AND REBUILD THEM, THEN RE-INSTALL TWO YEARS AGO THINKING HE MIGHT START RIDING THE BIKE AGAIN. DID NOT HAPPEN. YOU CAN SEE THE FRESH CARB TOP AND FLOAT BOWL GASKETS. I REPLACED THE RUBBER BITS IN THE PETCOCK, ALONG WITH THE GAS TANK TO PETCOCK O-RING. INSTALLED NEW FUEL LINE, AND A NEW YUSA SEALED BATTERY. THE BIKE FIRED UP INSTANTLY ANND SETTLED INTO A NICE 2500 RPM CHOKE INDUCED IDLE. AFTER ABOUT THIRTY SECONDS I TOOK IT OFF CHOKE AND THE BIKE IDLED @ APPROXIMATELY 1100 RPM LIKE A NEW ONE. THIS MOTOR IS ERIE QUIET. OBVIOUSLY ONE THAT HAD A WELL CARING OWNER. IINSTALLED THE FACTORY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY, FRONT TURN SIGNALS AND HEADLIGHT MOUNTS ALL OF WHICH WERE REMOVED BY THE DEALER WHEN NEW FOR THE FAIRING INSTALL. I HAVE ONLY TAKEN THE BIKE ON A SHORT THREE TO FOUR MILE TEST RIDE. EVERYTHING WORKS AND OPERATES GREAT. TURN SIGNALS, HORN, HEADLIGHT, TAIL LIGHT, ETC. STARTS SHIFTS, CLUTCHES, HANDLES LIKE A 7,000 MILE STOCK BIKE SHOULD. THE BIKE STILL NEEDS A NEW FRONT TIRE (OEM ORIGINAL STILL ON IT), BRAKES SERVICED THE REAR WAS STARTING TO DRAG A BIT AT THE END OF THE RIDE, OIL CHANGE, OEM HAND GRIPS (THE LEFT FOAM ONE WAS TORN) AND THE #3 CARB FLOAT MUST BE STICKING A BIT AS IT DRIPPED A LITTLE FUEL AFTER THE RIDE FROM ITS OVERFLOW TUBE. THE BIKE HAS AN AFTERMARKET LOCKHART OIL COOLER, ORANGE HIGH ENERGY COILS AND PLUG WIRES. THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAS THESE INSTALLED ALONG WITH THE OTHER ACCESSORIES BEFORE IT LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. THE BIKE IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC IGNITION BUT I HAVE THE COMPLETE POINTS ASSEMBLY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RETURN IT TO STOCK. THE POINTS AND STATOR COVERS ARE THE LATER GOLD COLOR AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER INSTALLED THEM A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER. HE THOUGHT THE GOLD COLOR WENT WITH THE COLOR SCHEME BETTER! CLEAR ORIGINAL TITLE, MINT OWNERS MANUAL AND FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, TOOL KIT AND FACTORY FORK AIR PRESSURE GAUGE IN THE ORIGINAL BOX ARE INCLUDED. THIS BIKE IS TRULY A RARE FIND AND THE NEW OWNER WILL BE NOTHING LESS THAN ESTATIC ABOUT ITS CONDITION. PLEASE NOTE SOME PICTURES WERE TAKEN BEFORE THE FRONT TURN SGNALS WERE INSTALLED, HAD TO ORDER THE OEM GROUND WIRES FROM SUZUKI. THE LATEST PICTURES SHOW THEM INSTALLED. THEIR IS A LITTLE DUST THAT HAS RE-APPEARED ON THE BIKE IN THE PICTURES. IT IS FALL HERE IN THE MIDWEST AND THE WINDS ARE BLOWING, UNAVOIDABLE IF YOU HAVE THE GARAGE DOOR OPEN.
