Porsche 944 Turbo 1987 2.5L Black Race Track Car Description: The 944 Turbo is an iconic entry in Porsche’s long line of race and sport cars. From the sleek modern contours to the screaming 2.5L engine, the 944 is a paragon of Porsche power and performance. This 944 Turbo is a no-frills, stripped-down, white knuckle speed machine. Up for auction is a 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo, vin # WP0AA2952HN151500, that has been stripped of all the bells and whistles, and converted into a lightweight race car. The 4-cylinder 2.5L engine features an aluminum intercooler and pipes, large uncovered cold air intake, aftermarket crossbar support, and the oil is clean and clear. The cockpit features a single Recaro seat with 5-point TRW seatbelt, a suede grip Momo wheel, and a Momo billeted shift knob. A complete Safety Devices roll cage reaches throughout the interior. Aftermarket electronics include a Zeitronix wideband AFRM display, Procamp Ultralite Boost Meter, and a Hot Lap in-car timer system. The door panels, carpet, heater, vents, stereo, glove compartment, passenger seat, and other all non-essential accessories have been removed, and are not included in this auction. There are obvious cosmetic issues, because all of the “cosmetic” parts have been removed. For what this vehicle is, a stripped down racer, it is in great shape. We have not started or driven the car. We have not tested any of the mechanical or engine components. However, we have performed a thorough visual inspection: Interior All non-essential components have been removed from the interior. The dash is cracked in a few places, and the climate controls, stereo, headlights, turn signals, glove box, seats, door panels, console, carpet, etc. have all been removed and are not included in this auction. That said, the interior is very clean, and well maintained. The power window controls on the driver’s side do work, and both windows operate normally, although the controls are loose and not fastened to the panel. Exterior The body is in great shape, with highly reflective glossy black paint. There are a few minor blemishes on the hood, and near the wheel wells. Across the hood there is a strip of what appears to be tape residue of some sort. The front headlight-replacement panel doesn’t match precisely, but overall the finish is in very good condition. Again, there are no headlights or turn signals. Those cavities are replaced by body kit parts. There is a vertical crack approx 2” long on the front lower driver’s side of the body kit bumper. The body kit and the sunroof are fiberglass. There is a lettered name graphic of the previous owner across the driver’s side roof, with an American flag decal. These should be easy enough to peel and remove. Engine The odometer reads 85,301 miles. The engine is in very good condition. The oil is very clean, and there are no obvious leaks under the vehicle. We do not have information on current performance specs. The intercooler and aluminum pipes appear to be aftermarket additions, as does the air intake. There may be additional engine upgrades that we are unaware of. The car will probably need a tune-up and thorough service before regular driving. The vehicle has been in storage, and we have not started or driven the car. Transmission: The clutch seems to depress normally, and the shifter feels smooth through each gear. However, we did not start or drive the car. Tires & Brakes: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Treaded Tires are in good shape with plenty of life left. The exterior surfaces of all 4 hubs are rusted, as a result of age and climate, but this could likely be removed with a grinder. Rust has also built up to a lesser degree on the rotors. The two front rims are missing the center logo caps Note: This vehicle does not have an SCCA number or Log Books. It has a VIN number, and a state issued title.
