Vehicle Detail
Bought this car a month or so ago with plans to make it a little nicer and drive it a few times a week. My plans have changed and I can no longer do that. My home has been foreclosed, and this car along with a absolute mint 1990 Cadillac Allante, 2002 Ford Excursion Limited, and a 2002 Saturn are all going to be sold. I've changed this auction to a "NO RESERVE" auction. A REAL no reserve, not like another car I see listed here as NO RESERVE...but with an opening bid of almost $8000! A no reserve auction sells regardless of price to the highest bidder. Putting a $7700 opening bid is exactly the same as setting a $7700 reserve. You see a lot of BS stories on Ebay, but this is not one of those. Check out my home being auctioned of on the internet Oct 29th at 10:00 am. Go to: Pinellas.realforeclosure.com andlook for 8068 Country Club Rd. You can also see the car at that address if interested. Car History: I purchased the car from the son of the original owner. His faither bought the car in the early 80's, drove it for a few years then gave it to his son to use while going to college. The son graduated and gave the car back to his Dad who drove it until around 1997. The engine and transmission was taken out of the car and both rebuilt shorty before the Dad got very ill in 1998, and died shortly thereafter. It has remained in the Son's garage until he sold it to me a month or so ago. When I went to the car to look at it the first time it wouldn't start. The mechanic who had worked on the car the entire time it was owned by this family came by and said the starter was no good and it would need a new battery. The owner did this, and when I came back the second time it fired right up and ran, although roughly. The mechanic said that the carbs would need to be rebuilt for it to run perfectly, as gas sitting in them for 12 years would have gummed them up. I had this car listed on EBay a couple of weeks ago and it missed reaching my reserve by a couple hundred dollars. Nearly everyone who called me had questions dealing with rust. The car has some surface rust under the drivers floor pan, but is not rusted through (same with the trunk, under spare tire). There is no rust on the rest of the car. I jacked the car up and took pictures and a video of the frame, as this was the issue nearly everyone who called me had (was the frame rusted). During the video I put an angle grinder to the frame and sparks start flying immediatly, and shiny metal is exposed within a second. The frame and undercarriage is in perfect condition. The car has been garaged since the early 80's (and possibly before). When the car starts up oil pressure goes to about 65 and then levels off at about 40 once warmed up. I have idled the car for a half hour or so in 90 deg weather and it has not gotten over 160 on the temp gauge. The alternator gauge is not working. Car has new battery and starter. Tires are new Pirelli Centurion. The mechanic told me they were put on when the engine/transmission were rebuilt. You can still see the "tits" on the sides of the tires. There is no paper work on the engine work. It has gotten lost over the years, but the original mechanic can verify what he did. I bought the car and took their word on the engine work. The guy lived in a very nice home, was a professional, and everything he told me the mechanic confirmed. If the guy had looked like a scumbag with the car parked outside his "doublewide", I probably would not have bought it. Odometer shows 84,000 You are not going to buy this car and drive it home without getiing the carb work done. I sprayed some cleaner in them and it made the car run worse. I called the mechanic and he told me that was prbably not a good idea, as I no doubt released some gummy varnish into some jets/venturis', The kits are around $70 for both carbs. The seats are in very good condition, carpets were fair until I ripped them out to look for rust, and the top has seen better days, athough it is still intact. The car is NOT a total restoration job. You could put a couple hundred $ in it and drive it anywhere. I have shot a video of the car, the undercarriage, and the motor running. Email me @ Megabitecharters@gmail.com or call me at 727-688-FISH (3474) and I'll do my best to send it to you. I had no luck getting it up here. I have friend who delivers high end cars from up North to Florida, and can get you a good price on delivery as he seldom has cars going from South to North this time of year. He lives in Ohio so if you want the car and live somewhere near the route he would take back home, he's the guy. Transmission has overdrive Will consider partial trade for a smaller SUV (Expedition,. etc) or ? in the $1500 range
