Up for bid is a 1970 Ford Mustang Coupe. It is an original Competition Yellow (Code D color) car. This car was originally sold to the Los Angeles region, DSO 71 and as far as we know, it has remained in California it's entire life. The body of the Mustang has one older repaint in the original color. There are no dents in the car and the only rust we can find is a small bubble on the lower corner of each front door, like nearly all Mustangs have. The car is equipped with a 302 2V V8 engine with an automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning (not cold) and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. The original AM radio is in the trunk. This car is an excellent basis for a restoration but it does need some work. As mentioned above, the body is in very good condition. The driver's seat needs to be redone, the rest of the seats are good. The dash pad is cracked near the speaker, but low cost dash caps are available. The headliner is in very good condition and the carpeting needs to be replaced. An aftermarket tilt steering column and wheel were installed at some point in the Mustang. We do not have a trunk or a door key, just an ignition key for the Mustang. We removed the trunk lock to access the trunk with no damage. The windshield has some scratches from the wipers which may be able to be polished out. Since getting the Mustang, we have replaced the radiator, muffler and put a new battery into the car. The known mechanical flaws are creaking from the front suspension, the steering wheel is not straight and power steering has a leak. We have only driven the car short distances and there may be other mechanical problems or issues we are not aware of. The engine is smooth and sounds good and does not smoke. The transmission shifts fine and the brakes are good. The miles shown are what are displayed on the odometer; we have no knowledge of the actual mileage and is exempt from mileage disclosure due to age. The reserve will not be disclosed during the auction. If you email a question asking only what the reserve is it will not be responded to. The vehicle can be stored free of charge for up to two weeks after the auction has ended, or longer with prior notification and agreement. Vehicles left past the agreed storage date are subject to a $15.00 per day storage fee. We are open for vehicle pick up during the week. We are not open on the weekend, but can make an exception with prior arrangement. Sorry but we spend weekends with our families. VEHICLE REGISTRATION, SALES TAX, SMOG, FEES, ETC: We are a licensed California auto dealer. The state requires that if you're out of state and plan on coming here to pick up the vehicle, you need to know that California law REQUIRES the buyer to pay sales tax, registration, and smog fee's if they pick up the car and drive it away. This is still the LAW even if you put the car on your trailer and it never touches the California roadway. If you're out of state, avoid can avoid all of these required fees by having your car shipped to your state. This in most cases is less expensive anyway by the time you figure gas, lodging, and other expenses. If you're an out of state buyer but picking up the vehicle and driving home, we can reduce the state required registration to a $16.00 one trip permit, but the other fees will still apply. If you are a California resident, we collect sales tax and registration fee. We then provide you with temporary registration in the window so you can legally drive the vehicle until your title and license plates arrive in the mail. All sales require a $55.00 DMV and paperwork fee. This covers the costs of our mailings of the title, bill of sale, license plates if required, and going to the DMV for you on your behalf. PAYMENT INFORMATION: Please follow the rules of the auction after it is completed, regarding deposit and full payment deadlines. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 must be received by me within 24 hours of the close of auction via Paypal, money order, or cashiers check, sent via overnight express mail.
