Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1991 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 with a manual 5 speed transmission. This car is in need of repair in order to pass any emissions test and be operable. Terms: No reserve auction. Car will be sold the highest bidder. I have not set a buy it now price. Read the description and bid what you are willing to pay. This is not a marketing survey, if you have the high bid, it is yours. When in doubt, assume the worst. My goal is a hassle free transaction, and I would rather sell the car for less to someone who knows what they are getting. $200 deposit by Paypal within 2-days of close. Deposit is non refundable. Balance in cash is due at pick-up. Upon receipt of complete payment, buyer will be given a signed, non-salvage title in the current owner’s name and a bill of sale. Buyer must complete the transaction and take possession within 7 days of auction close or item will be relisted and deposit is forfeit to cover the cost of the auction. Car is located in Alexandria VA and is offered as-is, where-is. Buyer is responsible for pick up and transportation. Buyer should be prepared to tow or trailer the car away. The car is not currently registered. I did some repairs (exhaust system, power steering, tires) to keep it going but it now requires more repair work than I am willing to put into it. I have not driven it since the registration expired in the summer of 2009. I have been told by two repair shops that this vehicle requires the replacement of at least two of the fuel injectors. It also needs a new water pump. These repairs are not trivial. If it could be fixed for $100 and a trip to Auto-Zone, I would not be selling it. The retail estimate for these repairs is about $2500. The odometer is broken. This is not included in the above estimate. I am not a mechanic, and I don’t know one who owes me a big favor so I am selling the car for parts, salvage or to someone who can fix it themself or get it fixed for less. Engine: To the best of my knowledge the car will start and run. I was able to jump start it without issue this summer. The engine does not seem to burn or otherwise consume oil. As indicated above, the engine requires replacement of at least two fuel injectors before it could pass an emissions test. The water pump is shot – it leaks like a sieve. If the buyer wants to jump start the car at pickup we can put some water in it for a brief start. If you want to try and drive it away, bring your own coolant. I would strongly advise a buyer to tow or trailer this car and NOT to try and drive this car away. New Battery was installed before I stopped driving it. Its stone dead now but would likely hold a charge if used. Body Panels All panels are intact and free of any serious defects. No bondo or other material. That’s the good news. The panels are in good shape because several were replaced by the previous owner as accident repairs. This includes the passenger door skin. Paint is starting to oxidize but no serious defects. All glass is intact, including the T-Tops. No significant rust that I know of. Transmission: Manual 5-speed. Works with no issues. Exhaust system Pipes and mufflers replaced in 2005 Odometer: The odometer stopped at about 79K miles in 2007. It has not been repaired. When the car is sold, the title will be marked to disclose this issue. I will not consider requests to do otherwise when transferring the title. Lenses/Trim Some fading and crazing commensurate with their age but all intact. Rear bumper is intact with no defects. Front bumper has some damage and home done repairs to the air dam. Interior Original red leather, old and faded. There is a repair in the driver’s seat. Be advised that the previous owner was a smoker. I’ve had the car for 5+ years and don’t smoke, but I’m telling you this in the interest of full disclosure. Driver’s carpet shows some burns. Sound system Original Bose components have been removed. Car has been successfully wired for a standard audio system. Head unit and rear speakers have been removed and will not be included. Other Items Included: T-Top covers Factory Service Manual ADDITIONAL INFORMATION If you have any specific questions about the car, send them to me in writing using the ask the seller a question function. I will try the best I can to answer or provide you with additional photos of specific components or parts by request. The following types of inquiries will receive no response: Requests to end the auction early and sell the vehicle directly Requests for a “buy it now” price Requests for inspection prior to auction close Proposals for trades Blind requests for information such as “call me at 555-5555.”
