Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1968 Buick Wildcat convertible in very good condition for its age. This Buick was owned by my late grandfather who was an avid car collector. He bought this car in 2006 from a good friend, who was also a classic car enthusiast, and put a good amount of work into it up until 2008, but health issues caused him to take other priorities. My grandfather had the intention of making this Wildcat a cruiser, and it certainly is. Included in the work that has been done since 2006 is: A full tune-up New carpet and upholstery Over $4000 in new paint, refinishing, and undercoating New convertible top and boot New plugs New brakes and tires New belts and various gaskets New floor pans New door panels This car was meticulously cared for by my grandfather, and has always been garaged and properly maintained. As I said, my grandfather bought this car to be a cruiser and did not have any intention of creating a show car, but it is certainly an excellent candidate to be fully restored. At some point the original 430 was replaced with a 455, we are unsure why, but it is a strong runner and has less miles than the rest of the car, but I am unsure as to how many miles the replacement engine actually has. The interior was replaced and was done very well, the body is certainly not perfect, it has its blemishes with close inspection but certainly looks good for being 42 years old. The bumpers and chrome trim do have some slight fading but still have a decent shine. The interior is in very nice condition, there is a little bit of fading in some of the trim around the gauges, a slight amount of rust occuring where the dash meets the windshield, as well as some rust at the top of the windshield behind the sun visors, but overall it is still quite nice for being mostly original. This car has power steering, brakes, windows, seat and power top. It originally came with factory A/C, but since the engine was replaced this option was not carried over. The engine does leak a slight amount of oil after being run for awhile, but stops as it cools down. We have had this car since May, having the oil changed and other routine maintenance, driven it a few hundred miles, and the oil has not gotten down to the level of needing any added. The car has cruise control, but it doesn't seem to connect, the light comes on but it will not maintain speed. I replaced the hoses on the washer fluid, but when turned on, no fluid sprays out, and the power seat will go up and down, but doesn't seem to want to go back and forth, not sure if it actually is supposed to, other than that everything is in working order. Like I stated previously, this is certainly not a show car, but it very well could be for someone looking to fully restore this rare convertible. It has had many updates since 2006 and runs very strong, driving very nicely down the road. I've tried to bring up any issues I know of and if you have any questions please email me or call/text me at 712-660-0960, my name is Ryan. I do have some more pics of various parts of the car, so if you have any particular requests let me know.On Oct-24-10 at 09:27:46 PDT, seller added the following information: For sale is a 1968 Buick Wildcat convertible in very good condition for its age.
