Something different than the proverbial Chevelle, Mustang, or Camaro? Want to show up at the kid’s soccer games in the coolest car on the planet? No mini-van or crummy Explorer here..... we are talking the ORIGINAL SUV! The family truckster! The super-luxo Buick Estate Wagon! Can you fit a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood flat in the back of your pick-up or SUV? You can in the Estate Wagon, AND close the tailgate!!! This fabulous car is not for the faint of heart, or for folks who want to be inconspicuous. This car stops traffic where ever it goes. Pulling into any car show or Friday night cruise-in all eyes immediately go to this bad-ass wagon! The lack of the optional 'wood' siding combined with the optional rally wheels really gives this wagon an edgy look. It would look hot with some GS 455 emblems on it! While cream-puff Cadillacs and Lincolns show up all the time, nice full size 70s wagons are a rarity. Most people who bought luxury cars took care of them and garaged them. Wagons were purchased by big families for utilitarian pursuits.....hauling kids to baseball practice, camping with the girl scouts, weekend homeowner projects. After years of abuse by Mom and the kids they were either passed on to teenage drivers or construction folks who finished them off. Survivor wagons are few and far between and exceedingly hard to find. When is the last time you saw one of these? A rare opportunity to step up and buy one at NO RESERVE, HIGHEST BIDDER WILL OWN IT. This is an original dry California blue/yellow license plate car with 98,8xx miles on the odometer, believed to be the actual miles. Clear CA title, car is located in Seattle, WA. The car is finished in Buick "Nutmeg Brown”with Saddle interior. It is equipped with the following options: · Power Windows · Power Door Locks · Power Tailgate and Rear Window · Air Conditioning · Six way Power Bench Seat with Center Armrest · Tilt Steering Wheel · Speed Alert · Trip Odometer · Remote Control Driver's side Mirror · AM/FM radio with front and rear speakers · Deluxe Rocker Panel Moldings · Bumper Guards front and rear · Factory Rally Wheels · Factory Roof Rack The powerful 455 V8 / 4 barrel runs and drives great. The transmission shifts smooth. The car gives an incredible ride...the long wheelbase and even weight distribution make this car a joy to drive. No doubt the car is huge, but driving and handling is a breeze. Condition Exterior: The car looks great and the body and frame are virtually rust-free. The car was repainted once many years ago. The re-paint was average quality and presents well for a driver; but it is not show quality. As you can see it still has lots of gloss to it. However, there are portions of the paint on the hood, roof, and left rear quarter that show some oxidation/flat spots. There are various small dings and waves as can be seen in the photos and to be expected on a car of this age. Again, it is very presentable for a driver as is. The exterior chrome and stainless are very nice and original. The tires are BF Goodrich and have lots of tread. The undercarriage and frame are exceptionally solid and rust free (a benefit of a garaged life in CA). Photos of the rear side windows are included to show the only known area of rust on this car. This is a common rust prone area on these wagons. These spots are not rusted through, nor raised. They are simply areas where the paint has chipped/pealed and the bare surface has rusted. These are easy repairs. I have also included photos of the underside of the spare tire well which is rust free – very rare on these cars, as well as the rocker areas and door jambs. The only area showing any signs of rust are these spots along the rear windows. Interior: The interior of this car is very nice and clean. The car is a six passenger wagon. However, included with the sale is everything needed to convert the car to a 9 passenger including the third seat and all components of the cargo area from a donor car in the matching color. The two bench seats are in excellent condition as is the carpeting throughout. The door panels and cargo area are excellent. The headliner has some separation at a few of the seams. The dash has a couple of cracks, but an original dash is also included with the sale. Also included with the sale are a box of misc. spare parts, one extra cargo area side glass, one rear window glass and a few other misc. things. *International Buyers: there may be issues with shipping these extra parts inside the car, check with your transporter. Shipping is your responsibility. Seller assumes no liability for shipping these parts. Mechanical: The car starts right up and runs out well. It does not smoke. The 455 V8 is powerful, smooth, and idles nicely. The transmission shifts smoothly. The brakes feel good, not soft and the car stops just fine. Is the car up for a cross country road trip? This is not a three year old Toyota Camry folks, IT IS A 38+ YEAR OLD CAR BEING SOLD AT NO RESERVE. It is pushing 40 years old and has not been driven regularly on long distances in years. While it has performed well on limited short distances around town I don’t think it would be wise to jump in it and drive from Seattle to Miami. Not to mention the expense of gas. The windows, locks, seat, radio, headlights, wipers, all work. The AC does not blow cold. The power tailgate and rear window work fine from the dash switches as well as from the rear exterior switch. Included with the sale are a number of original documents including the original Bill of Sale showing the car was sold new by Caves Buick in Fresno, CA on May 9, 1972 for $5800 + tax/fees. (a lot of money in ’72!). The original owner’s manual, warranty information, and a number of original (and RARE) factory hang tags are also included.I have included lots of large photos for your review. You can click on any of the photos and save them to your own computer which will allow you to view them even larger for details. Thanks and Happy Bidding! The car is 38+ years old, so obviously it is sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I have tried to describe the car in the best detail possible, but I may have missed something important to you. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have BEFORE bidding. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Wire transfer for the balance is preferred. Cashiers or personal check is okay, but verification of clearance will delay the release of the car. I am happy to work with your shipper once the car is paid for and I can provide indoor storage for the car up to 30 days after the end of the auction. I reserve the right to cancel all bids and end the auction early for local sale. I am happy to work with International buyers. Please keep in mind car will need to be paid in full and clearance of payment will need to be verified prior to the car being released for transport. I have had the same eBay id for OVER TWELVE YEARS; my feedback speaks for itself. Additionally you will note the check symbol next to my id. My identity information has been checked and verified through eBay’s third party screening system. I have sold a number of cars over the years and every buyer has been very happy with their purchase. You can buy with confidence. On Oct-21-10 at 10:19:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked about rust on this car a couple of times. As the auction description states there is no apparent rust on the body of this car with the exception of the few flat spots where the paint has peeled around the base of the rear windows (pictured). There is no rust around the wheel lips, rocker panels, dog legs, lower body, or the spare tire well. This is an original blue/yellow plate dry CA car from the Fresno/Sacramento Valley area. The current paint job is not show quality but the car is a very presentable driver as is and is a definite head turner. The '71-'73 body style Buick clamshells are a rare find, and arguably much better looking then their big bumpered '74-'76 siblings. Bid to win, you won't get a second chance!
