Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is an absolutely amazing 4X4 Lifted combination off-road and work truck. I am starting the auction at the lowest price with No Reserve. I am selling this truck because I bought a desert 1970 Blazer and I just can’t have this one too. This Truck is a one ton Chevy Custom Deluxe, 1984, specifically modified by the US Government to have GMs legendary 6.2 liter diesel engine installed instead of the gas models. This truck is strong, and even though it was built more than twenty five years ago, it has less than 73K miles on it… For a diesel it means this truck has one of the best tool box beds I have ever seen. The truck began as a military vehicle built to military specs by Chevrolet. It is essentially a one ton Chevy truck but with a diesel engine. The truck came from Arizona and has basically no rust on it…But it is a work truck—it is not pretty—it has lots of dings and scratches, the driver’s seat is completely torn on the left side, and the dash is cracked. I am pretty sure I have a good dash here that I am happy to throw in for free… THE AC is great and so is the heater. And the truck has two alternators. The truck is known as a CUCV—a Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle, or an M1028, or M1008—not sure which one, if someone tells me how to check, I will and will post it! The tires are pretty good, battery is pretty good, interior is definitely work-grade—scratches, dents, tears… It has huge tires, I think they are 37 inch—16.5 inch rims…and 12.5 inches wide…and with a fair amount of tread left on them…I don’t really know how to judge that but you should be able to tell from the pics…. Of course it has a tow hitch. Originally it was built with a 24 volt starter, but it now has a regular 12 volt charger, which makes things a lot easier…it still has some cool military stuff, like a black-out driving system. There is a really powerful Air conditioner that just won’t quit. The heater works well. The truck began work for the military, which follows strict guidelines on maintenance, which is great, and then was taken by an Arizona police department where again it received apparently perfect scheduled maintainance. It starts right up and stays running. It has a ton of places to keep tools—a whole system on both sides of the bed, which nonetheless still has plenty of room for the big stuff. There are some screw holes in the roof from where the police had mounted a lightbar. The truck has no brush guard, and currently no front bumper—but if you want one, I am happy to put on a bumper for you. The left turn signal flashes on the rear but not on the front. There are various mounting holes in the bed. The horn does not work, I think they disconnected the horn and put a big pneumatic police horn in there—the pneumatic lines are still in the bed, but it seems like there is no horn. The Truck has a Jensen 45wattX4 stereo with two good sized Spacetech speakers behind the seats. The driver’s seat is torn—has not bothered me, but you might want to have it fixed! When it was a military truck it had a dual 12/volt 24/Volt system.—which frankl is a pain in the tail configuration—so it prior owner—guy who bought this from the police and sold it to me, changed it to a 12 volt starter. The truck has bucket seats, and is a single cab with a little room behind the seats—not much, but it has a tinted glass rear window which makes a huge difference with the heat and glare. Maybe the best thing about the whole truck are the tool boxes---you can store absolutely massive amounts of tools in these things, and it has a ton of bins and shelves so you can keep everything organized, and really accessible It is Rawson-Koenig steel set-up Model 956, and they did an absolutely great job… Of course it has a 2 inch hitch on it, with multiple hook up for various electrical light arrangements and it has very excellent TRUCKLIGHT Flashers and yellow flashers on top of the box. There is No hesitation at all when you go to fire this engine up. You just turn they key and it fires right up. The truck runs great. And it has a very excellent dual exhaust. In addition to the 9 leaf springs in the back, the truck has Rancho RS5000 shocks. Very tough 8 lug wheels. Four wheel drive and a six inch lift. Perfect for hunting, off roading, or a good work truck. Air Conditioning Automatic Transmission 4x4 6.2L Diesel 12 Volt System Dual Alternators Dual Exhaust Less than 73,000 miles on a 5 digit odometer Stereo Rugged, Reliable 1 Ton Truck~! On Oct-18-10 at 11:16:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, so, some more little things about the truck. Biggest one is that the red thing that shows which gear you are in, on the dashboard, has dissapeared. don't know where it is gone. I have had this happen in GMs before, and it never bothered me, basically i did not even notice it, but my wife drove the truck the other day and had trouble figuring out what gear she was in....so, if that is a problem for you, you can withdraw your bid...also, there are a couple of holes in the dash where the Army made cut outs to add some kind of switch that has since been removed. they are not really visible in the photos, and anyway, the biggest one i woud say is the size of a cig lighter adapter--i can't even remember any others, but i am putting it in just in case. Finally, on the bumper front, if i get a bumper, fine, and if I don't i will knock one hundred dollars off the purchase price for the winner...i think that is fair cuz i think a used bumper for that truck will cost way under one hundred bucks--but if anyone has a serious issue with that, please email me and we will work it out... some very cool news is that someone wrote me to say that the truck was an ambulance truck, and therefore the Air Conditioning is actually original to the truck....and i guess that is why it is so powerful. Also, i think that is why the chassis is so strong. I let my friend Troy drive it the other day, and he said the Tranny is totally fine---it is just geared to give a huge ammount of torque...He also said it was the perfect truck --for some people--cuz you could fill it with hay, and drive across fields, and the suspension would be fine, plus it would not get stuck and it could run into deep holes--that makes it great for a lot of things in my opinion! last thing--i read in the manual online that the army put some sort of governor on the engine so that it likes to go 55mph...and this truck definately does like 55--feels unnatural above 65 for sure, and is slow climbing up hills, but i think that is just the torque issue cuz it is slow uphill when the load is full, and slow uphill when the load is empty...so, anyway, that is about it...i owe some of you measurements which i will take today. thanks. max On Oct-18-10 at 18:19:27 PDT, seller added the following information: The truck is guaranteed to your satisfaction--so, if you win the truck, and you don't like it, you can return it for a full refund, as long as you return it within 24 hours...if you have it shipped, then you have to pay to ship it back to me, and if you drive it you have to get it back to me on your dime..also, anyone can test drive it before the auction ends. thanks. On Oct-20-10 at 06:56:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Plates are current Arizona until end of October.
