Vehicle Detail

1968 Honda CL450 CL 450 Vintage Near Museum Quality Ok so you missed out on the two very nice Honda scramblers in the last couple weeks. Maybe you lucked out.. This bike is just as nice or maybe nicer, especially if you like red. I purchased this bike from an estate sale and it was clearly stored in a dry, climate controlled environment. Although this bike is totally original except for the high quality, correct replacement seat cover and the new, very close to original color paint job on tank and side covers (which looks much better in person than in the pics), all the chrome is exceptional … no rust or even noticeable pitting. I think the pictures speak for themselves as to the cosmetic condition of the bike and you can see that it was nearly disassembled to conduct a through clean, polish and minor frame touch up. The exhaust is especially nice with no rust or rot at all. The only noticeable blemish is a few scratch marks on the rear wheel (shown in one pic). Where this bike really shines is in it’s the mechanical/running condition. The carbs were disassembled and cleaned (tho the inside of each was spotless), the valves and cam chain were adjusted, timing set and new plugs put in. Following the addition of a new battery and fresh gas the bike started on the 3rd push of the starter button. The clutch is smooth and progressive and the tranny shifts like butter. I have owned/restored 7 Honda 450’s and this is with out a doubt the strongest and best running. Following about 20 miles of running, I tested the compression and it read 160+ both sides. I have no way to verify but I wouldn’t be surprised if this motor has been tweaked with high compression pistons. The way it rips through 1st and 2nd gears is amazing. The tires are not new but are in excellent condition with no signs of weather checking or dry rot. All electrics including starter, headlight, turn signals, stop lite and horn work as new. The original owners manual and tool kit are included with the bike. Inside of tank is clean as a whistle. The bike comes with a clear, signed, undated title from the previous owner. I prefer not to get involved in shipping the bike but will consider if the buyer makes all arrangements. I will not crate. Though I would not hesitate to take this bike on an extended trip, it is 42 years old and as such, no warranty is expressed or implied. A deposit of 500 dollars is to be made within 48 hrs of purchase via paypal. The remainder is to be paid at pick up in cash or certified bank check within two weeks. Sale is final with no returns. The bike is also for sale locally and may be withdrawn from ebay at any time. If you have any question please email me or you can call my cell at 847-997-2492 and I will be more than happy to fill you in on any details I have left out. Happy bidding and good luck!! Mr Crawford.. tried to send you email if you dont get send one to me at Redtr4@comcast.net thanks!
