Vehicle Detail

1967 Ford Mustang Convertible Original California C Code Introduction: Up for auction is this iconic, classic, American car. This 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible has lived most of its life in California which makes it a very very solid car front to back, top to bottom. The car has been driven very little over the course of its life but has been maintained meticulously. This car is believed to be a two or three owner car, and included in the auction is a file of receipts that track a lot of the car's history. This car is an absolutely gorgeous car and pictures do not do it justice. Let's take a few moments and look a little closer... Exterior: These classic All-American lines are drenched in nearly edible Candy Apple Red paint. The red velvet finish flows seamlessly over every panel and line with depth and elegance. Every panel is original, is razor straight, and in excellent condition. Even the inspection markings on the inner fender wells are still present. (see pic) I have an extensive paper trail on the car and it shows the car was repainted in the late 80's but it looks like as good as the day it was painted. There are a few chips on the car, mostly confined to the front lower valance and one or two on the rest of the body. I took the car to a automotive paint shop and had them exactly color match the paint and mix up touch up paint to fill them. The chips are completely undetectable from 3 feet away. The chrome is in excellent condition and shines with rich brilliance. All of the glass is excellent as well, with absolutely no scratches, cracks, or chips. The rear vinyl window is starting to cloud, but you can still see through it pretty clearly. The manual convertible top is brilliant white and has no rips, tears, or stains and can be easily operated by one person. Interior: Open either door and step into pure and simple American pony interior. This is probably one of the most complete and full functioning interiors I have ever seen on a 43 year old car. Every light, switch, and feature function exactly the way they did from the factory. The original AM radio works, every gauge and gauge light work, turn signals and hazard lights and switches work, and all interior courtesy lights work. There are really only two items that need attention. The windshield washer foot pump diaphragm needs to be replaced. When you push the peddle the wipers come on, but no fluid passes through the pump. I took it apart and the diaphragm is shot. Also the radio speaker is original and tends to crackle at higher volumes, not too bad though. There are no rips, tears, or cracks on the door panels, seats, dash, or other interior pieces. The doors open and close with the simple push of a finger and doors and top seal up nice and tight. In the trunk you will find the original floor mat and jack. Mechanical: Bump the key and bring to life the original "C" code 289 V8 powerplant. The engine fires up on command and absolutely purrs with a great tone from idle to cruising speed. This 289 is very reliable and has plenty of power to make any Sunday drive a pure joy. Cruising at 70-75mph is no problem. Everything on the engine is original with the exception of the carburetor. Prior to my ownership a Holley 2 barrel carb was installed to replace the original 2 barrel. I still have the original carb that goes with the car, if someone should wish to rebuild and reinstall it. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly as it should and has no issues. The brakes bring everything to halt quickly and smoothly without pulling or pulsing. The entire front suspension and steering has just been rebuilt back to factory specs, with over $1000 spent in doing so. The steering is very tight with no wheel slop and the suspension is responsive and not spongy. Other new items include a new battery, new alternator, and 4 new Bridgestone Insignia P195/75R14 tires. The undercarriage of this car is what you would expect from a dry California climate. The floors and all supports are completely original and extremely solid with no rust or soft spots. The trunk and gas tank and in great shape as well. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this gorgeous 1967 Mustang Convertible.
