Vehicle Detail
This is a well maintained 1986 Mercedes 300SDL Turbo Diesel in good condition. They are difficult to find and the 86 SDL is the one to own if you are looking for a Mercedes diesel. This engine is known to go a million miles. The more you drive them the better they run!. The car does not rattle, squeak or make any wierd noises. It does make the normal noise associated with diesels as it idles. There is a newly installed insulating blanket, noise separator in the engine hood. I have owned the vehicle for 5 years. The reason I am selling it is because after 30 years of playing around with these nice diesel limousines I want a sports car now. I also own 2 1991 350 SDLs which I will be disposing of shortly. When I bought this car, it was a diamond in the rough and my objective was to restore it to its original condition as a pastime. The car has been mostly restored except for the 3 main issues listed below. During my ownership I have replaced the transmission seal, battery, shocks, rotors, accessory belt, and tensioner, all front ball joints, idler arms, tires. The car is perfectly aligned, In terms of upgrades to the car I have installed all seats taken from a 1991 mercedes and thus they are firm and nice and the interior is in good condition. The front indicator lights are the clear ones. The wheels are custom mags 16 inch (see pictures) and the tires are practically brand new. While the car is in perfect mechanical condition the way I see it, it has 3 main issues and depending on your priorities you will have to figure out how to resolve them: 1. It needs a paint job...the clear coat is peeling...see pictures. There is practically no rust on the car. 2. While the sunroof motor works, the sunroof does not work. 3. The ac does not work and I have not really thought it important enough to investigate this issue. It could be the compressor or a leak. I have a spare compressor that I will throw in for free with the sale. Everything else on the car works like the speed control, power windows, power seats, etc. The car passed Virginia inspection last October and is due for the next one at the end of this October. The car has the original Becker radio and I am throwing in a Kenwood 10-CD Changer that I had purchased specifically for the car but never installed. I have some other spare items for this car that will come with the sale like a starter, left and right rear view mirrors, fuel injectors, glow plugs etc. If you are into buying a classic mercedes diesel mode this one is worth your consideration. It looks great, is economical, and much work has been done to keep her this way. There is no reserve and I am looking to sell it at a reasonable price rather than making great sums of money. I know whatever I get will not compensate me for all the work and upgrades on this car. If you have any question please feel free to ask.
