Vehicle Detail
Mustang 1965 Convertible Resto-Mod 289, T-5 Tranny & power Rack I am re-listing this car due to last winning bidder high jacked some one else account. I will need to verify bidder prior close of auction. If you are interested and you are at or above the reserve price please contact me to qualify bid. This is the last time I will list this car on E-bay. My intent was never to sell this car but famous last words. Now I upgraded to a new house where my family is happier but came at a high price. I have owned this car for almost six years. When I brought this car I had it shipped from Arizona and paid $12,000.00 for it. The prior owner had the 289 engine rebuilt before selling it to me. I was told it had just over 8,000 on the re-built. I always had it in a garage and drove it on family drives in the summer only on weekends for the first two years. During those first two years I upgrade the front brakes to power disc brakes. I installed a four barrel Holley carburetor with new intake manifold and upgraded valve covers. I built a steel building work shop with a car lift at my old house. For the next three and one half years I took the whole car apart and re-built it with all new parts. I spent over $23,000.00 in new parts and thousands of hours working on it. I used a high speed wire wheel on grinder to remove all under carriage, engine compartment, interior and etc of all paint and debris. When I started stripping the body I was not happy with the original body panels so I cut the quarter panels off removed the doors, fenders, front, rear aprons, hood, outer wheel wells and tail. I bought all new panels and had a professional restoration company help me install all panels. During these three in one half years I installed a re-built T-5 tranny with Steeda shifter and Hurst T handle in chrome. The cross member is heavy duty to give extra strength to the frame. Then I install a power rack steering with heavy duty cross member as well. The following list are the new parts that were installed, I hope to remember to list all. *Body emblems *Front & back bumpers *Weather stripping and all rubber grommets *Exterior and interior door handles *Heater core and all heater box with hoses *Power Steering Pump and bracket *Emergency brake cables and brackets * Carpet * Digital Stereo with four speakers and dual center speaker with I-pod jack in glove compartment & RCA jacks in trunk *GT style gauges *Grant Steering wheel *dual horns *Complete new set of electrical harness *Whole grill assembly with fog lights *Fenders *Shelby fiberglass hood *Gas tank *Drop trunk panels both sides *quarter panels *complete doors both sides *rear & front valance *tail lights *front light bezels *Blower switch and blower *all new neoprene front end bushings *upper and lower control arms & ball joints *Shocks *lowered front springs * Power rack *Heavy duty Drive shaft *Dual exhaust *Side view mirrors *Rim & tires but this car deserves bigger and better rims *Front rotors & spindles *Power brake booster with custom dual master cylinder *Custom ball bearing clutch pedal assembly and cable * GT gas cap * Tilt steering column *Kick panels with speakers *Trunk lid *Key switch & door cylinders *Base coat clear coat paint *Chassis black gloss finish under carriage *Door arm rest * Things that need attention: 1. I recently tried to install new convertible top but I am now overwhelmed with new house and work so the job did not come out good. Needs to be stretch out to be tight. 2. The gauges were working but now when I turn on the car they go all the way up. I research it and sounds like bad ground somewhere 3. The speedometer cable not working 4. Emergency brake brackets need to be modified to fit better on new cross member In summary, this car handles like a go kart which is far better than stock steering. The T-5 tranny makes it fun to drive like a late model Mustang. When cold it will ride rough but will never stall. When warm it will run like a kitten when cursing but turns into a lion when you want to. It handles those twisty roads with ease. The paint job is high gloss and looks great but not first class show quality, it has some imperfection. It can be very easily made into show quality if you can handle the task. Know how much I had put into this car and the little things needed to finish her off, the reserve is set at a fair price where my loss is your gain.
