Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for a very nice driving, quite original, very complete MGB GT. This car is registered in California until December this year and is in use regularly. So it does not have the problems that these cars often suffer from because they have been standing around for years. The owners for the last 4 years are believed to be only the second in its history. The car is being offered reluctantly due to an upcoming new addition to the family. Looking around the car I see absolutely no evidence of it ever having been in an accident. All area’s inside the fenders, front and back, where you expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct. Even the front valence has not been damaged while being parked, which is so commonly seen. The car has been repainted recently a tasteful silver blue, the paint has a nice shine and is not chipped or dented. The doors close well and the panel fit is excellent for one of these cars. It still has the original Aluminium hood which is in very good condition. Underneath the car is completely rust free, the floors being especially nice. The chrome is decent and complete and the glass is in good shape. The interior is original and a bit worn the seats need new foams and have had some generic covers fitted. The dash is in very good shape having not cracked like almost all the ones I see. The engine starts easily from cold with the choke (the ignition switch does take a bit of getting used to) and pulls smoothly and powerfully. The gearbox is not noisy and all synchros work well giving smooth shifting. The clutch feels good, no sign of slipping. The nice wood steering wheel suits the interior but it could do with some refinishing work as the clearcoat is starting to lift off the back. There is a little rust showing through the bottom of both front fenders and you can see that there has been some previous repair work at the bottom of the rears (see pictures). The brakes feel good, they have had a major overhaul recently and it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss. The suspension feels fine, it has an older tube shock conversion fitted front and back and the rear axle is quiet. Overall the car drives very well. The engine does not appear to have much in the way of oil leaks and underneath it is surprisingly dry but the non overdrive transmission has typical leaks. There is only one wiper arm fitted and it works. The horn, speedometer, hazards, and left front running light do not work and the oil pressure gauge is intermittent- probably the sender unit. To recap this car is a great daily driver or could be the basis for a stunning restoration due to its lack of serious rust its accident free body and originality. These GT’s are starting to appreciate now as people begin to realize what a fun, useful, cute little car they are. As always I would recommend driving this car if at all possible, please call 310 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid with confidence, the car will not disappoint. I have sold many classic British cars on e-bay with all buyers leaving excellent feedback.
