Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my Model A AV8 style Roadster. This is very close to a period correct Post War era Hot Rod. This is not a Rat Rod. The parts are old, and the construction is quality. This car is running and driving and comes with a clean roadster title. There is a lot of modifications, and I know this car inside and out. Ill do my best to describe it. I have built cars like this before and past buyers have been very satisfied. Dont ask the reserve, it will not be disclosed. Its not cheap. Auction may end at anytime. Call me with questions. 920-819-8086 Body 1930 Model A roadster. This was a decent body that was media blasted to bare metal, and patch panels were butt welded in the lower cowl and quarters. The doors are nice unpatched originals. The rear sections if subrails, panel below decklid and floor are new. It was straightened out and shot with a Battleship Grey paint. It is Acrylic Urethane single stage. The decklid is a new skin on a stock inner. It is punched with 225 louvers. Its beautiful. The hood is a stock Model A top punched with another 70 louvers. The grill shell is from a 32 Ford Truck. It has a new cap and emblem. The windshield stantions are stockers that have been chopped 5" and polished. Stock chopped windshield frame. The inside of the body was braced up with 1.75" tube to give it some more strength. Frame This car has a stock Model A frame boxed from the center crossmember forward, and stretched 5" in the rear to accommodate the 34 Ford rearend. It was blasted clean and has stock crossmembers front and rear. There is some pitting, but it is a solid frame. It was painted black with all suspension parts. Suspension The front end is a super clean 32 heavy axle that was dropped years ago. 34 wishbone split with 32 BB Tierod ends. 40 Ford spindles, and 40 Ford front brakes. The rearend is a nice 34 Ford rear with a model A spring. 4.11 gears, and 40 Ford brakes. Front shocks held up by some F-1 mounts. The torque tube and 34 driveshaft are cut down to fit. It is stock wheelbase. All brake parts and lines are new. It has 35 Ford 16" wire wheels and new firestone bias-ply big and littles with tubes. Drivetrain 1950 Mercury flathead V-8 with a 39 Ford tranny. This is a good running original engine that was out of an unrestored Merc. It has a 48 Truck bellhousing, flywheel and new clutch and pressure plate. The tranny was not rebuilt, but was in good useable shape. The pedal assembly is from a 34 Ford heavy truck. They fit great and look the part. The engine has new truck waterpumps, old Edlebrock 2x2 intake and some rebuilt Stromberg 97's. A NAPA electric fuel pump is mounted on the frame rail, offy pressure regulator. The radiator is a new 2-core aluminium. It does not overheat. A truck generator and fan was used. The generator was rebuilt and converted to 12 volts with a new voltage regulator. All the wiring is covered in old asphlat loom. Some cloth wire was used where visible. Interior The interior was just finished up this summer. It is a very comfortable bench seat that flips forward. The panel behind the seat unsnaps for removal. There is a 11 gallon gas tank and battery box behind the seat. Lots of room in the trunk to store your stuff. The steering is a 1938 Ford column chopped into a unique setup. It connects to a 38 Ford cross- steer box via 2 u-joints. The steering shaft was custom machined to use a very rare 37 Nash Lafayatte banjo steering wheel and center cap. There is a panhard bar. The black floor pan can be removed to access the guts. The rest of the story I dont have very many miles on the car, but it has been running super this summer. I have too many cars to drive. Ill be very honest describing the condition. Im sure there are a few bugs to work out yet. The speedo cable snapped inside the housing. You will need a new one. The clutch chatters a little on a dead start. All the parts are new, and this is inherant to the V8 torquetube setup. Does not affect driving. The mechanical fan rattles a little at high RPM's. Its not going to come apart, but ive been looking for a replacement. The tranny does leak a little (all too common). Mabe a quarter size when you park. Its a blast to drive, and goes down the road nice. Keep in mind this is an old style hot rod, and it behaves like one. Buggy springs and bias plys, need I say more. Call me with any questions. 920-819-8086 Rob TRADES I might be intrested in a partial trade for your early HD or Indian motorcycle. Mabe even a newer Street glide or Road King.
