Condition: The pictures tell a 1000 words. Good condition, minor gravel chips on leading edge of hood and bumper, a few modest door dings, some normal "sand blasting" of the windshield and headlight lenses. If I were going to keep the car "forever" I would replace the windshield eventually, but the windshield is perfectly serviceable. All in all VWs wear very gracefully; this car still looks great and has many, many good miles left in it. · Features: Fully loaded with every available luxury feature for a GTI 1.8T Manual in the 2002 model year. The light sliver-gray leather interior complements the sliver metallic exterior and looks absolutely gorgeous. The Monsoon sound system rocks. · History: I am the original owner and the mature adult non-smoking principal driver. This car has never been smoked in. This was my primary vehicle to commute to work in (124 miles round trip) so the mileage is mostly highway. The car has always been VW dealer maintained in accordance with VW specifications and all records will be transferred to the buyer. The only major maintenance item that has never been done is a manual clutch replacement, but there is no evidence it needs to be done yet either; again, the car mileage is mostly highway, which would explain the light clutch wear. As I said above, if I were going to keep the car "forever" I would replace the windshield eventually, but the windshield is perfectly serviceable. There is one outstanding manufacturer recall item to clean the sunroof drains that I haven't had done yet, but this will not cost the owner anything. · Major Maintenance Item History: Timing belt and water pump 107,000 miles (expect next replacement around 210,000 miles). Catalytic converter 126,000 miles (since then an exhaust bracket was also repaired). Rear brakes 141,000 miles. Front brakes 146,000 miles. New tires 158,000 miles (this was second set, so expect to get to 230,000-ish miles before needing the next set). Ignition coils 167,000 (recall/warranty). New battery 169,000 miles. Front strut mounts and bushings 176,000 miles (plus a bunch of other suspension and undercarriage cover refresh work over the last year, so nothing major left to do for a long time). · Shipping and payment: Buyer is responsible to pick up and/or ship the car. Seller generally agreeable to meet the buyer at an airport in the greater New York / Boston area to deliver the car if mutually agreeable terms can be reached, however, Seller will not pay for any Buyer travel cost to pick up the car under this arrangement.
