Vehicle Detail
chiefhs35 store Hello, This is my personal 1991 944S2 convertible. I have owned it for 3 years. In that time ,it has been my reliable daily driver. It has 91,700 miles on it. I have driven and enjoyed it for over 15,000 miles. I don't want to sell it, but family obligations are forcing us to make a change. (4 door car!) This is one of 562 944s2 cabriolets sold worldwide in 1991. That makes it pretty rare. The fact that it is triple blue (blue paint, interior , and top) makes it even more rare. In fact, I have never seen another one either on line or in person. It must have been a special order car. The car has been well maintained. I have a big stack of records for it dating back to 2001. I put new tires, Dunlop Direzza z rated, on it in January of this year. At the same time, I put new brakes (Zimmerman rotors) front and rear. Also, during the time that I have owned it, the following has been replaced: - Air Conditioning compressor and belt - fuel pressure regulator, fuel dampener, and fuel filter - trans axle mount - crankshaft position sensor - 2 CV joints The timing belt and balance shaft belt were replaced 16,500 miles ago. They have 13,500 miles to go before they need to be changed. As far as the paint goes, there are 20 years worth of stone chips and a spot of corrosion (see picture). These cars have galvanized bodies so I don't understand why the corrosion has popped up where it did. It has some door dings and a small dent on the front. It still shines and looks really good from 20 feet. The interior has normal wear for it age and mileage. The dash has some cracks in it. This car is not perfect. If you are expecting it to be like a new car, please do not bid. It is 20 years old and I am asking just over 10% of its original MSRP. That being said ,I would still drive this car across the country tomorrow without a second thought. It has been totally reliable. It would be a great hobby car to drive and work on for fun. Or, you could use it as a daily driver like I have. It has made a couple of noises the whole time I have owned it. First , either when you go over a bump in the road just right, or sometimes when you accelerate hard in first gear, you can hear a bumping sound. My mechanic has tried to figure out what it is. He is convinced that it is the exhaust hitting the bottom of the car. We have been unable to stop it . Also since it does not happen every time, it has been hard to diagnose. It has not gotten better or worse in the 15,000 miles that I have driven it and you might not even hear it for a while. I think I need to disclose it , however. Secondly, it makes a noise when you engage the clutch. It is not very loud and ,again , you may not even be able to hear it. This noise has also not changed in 3 years and 15,000 miles. My mechanic has inspected the clutch and has determined that it does NOT need to be changed right now. Anybody interested can talk to him if you would like to. Also, a different professional mechanic recently drove it between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC (about 100 miles) and did not hear any of these noises. So....the good: runs great ,stops great, new tires, cold A/C , lots of new stuff, fitted technalon car cover, Alpine CD player with Boston Acoustics speakers, plenty of life left on timing belt, reliable the not so good: power top disconnected by previous owner (it is real easy to put up and down manually so I never looked into why it is disconnected), cruise control also disconnected by previous owner, (I presume they were both disconnected because they did not work right), there is the beginnings of a tear in the top (see picture, top does NOT leak) ,spot of corrosion on left rear near taillight (also see picture), intermittently makes noises I encourage anybody interested in the car to come by and look at it in person. It is in Columbia ,SC .My phone # is 803-240-3710. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. I have tried my best to describe my car accurately and honestly. Some of the things that I mentioned in the ad and pictures that I took might not have been mentioned at all by some sellers. I have great feedback as a seller and a buyer on ebay since 2000. I don't want anybody to be "surprised" . Thanks don't get involved with arranging shipping for cars, so you will need to take car of that yourself. We of course will cooperate as much as we can to help the driver or pick up company. Payment requires $500 down, balance due by Cashiers Check or Cash in 7 days, unless prior arrangements are made.
