Vehicle Detail

Vintage 1951 4-Door Plymouth Cranbrook - Runs like a top! Jim Scherer, a master woodworker known as "The Sawdust Angel," from Montrose, Colorado, donated this sweet, light-blue, 1951 Plymouth Cranbook car to support the National Day of the Cowboy nonprofit organization in keeping the National Day of the Cowboy campaign going. Jim has a true cowboy heart and is a passionate collector of western memorabilia. He strongly believes in the goal and the work of the National Day of the Cowboy organization. Here are this Cranbrook's particulars: This vintage four-door, 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook boasts a straight six-cylinder flathead engine with a 3-speed transmission shift on the column. The car starts easily and her dependable engine purrs right along. Jim says you can drive it anywhere, any distance. All of the glass is good. Once the tube radio warms up, it sounds clear enough to receive a transmission from Mars. The Cranbrook has the original upholstery, steering wheel, etc. All of the lights, the signals, and the horn work perfectly. This Cranbrook needs some minor bodywork and trim fixes, but you can drive down the highway at 55 mph and let go of the steering wheel and it will travel straight as a bullet. Jim states that he does not know whether the approximate 90,000 miles on the odometer are original miles or miles on a replacement engine. He provided us with the above 7 photos of the automobile. The winning bidder or the buyer will need to arrange to get the car from Montrose,Colorado, which is where it is housed in an indoor storage facility. I asked an acquaintance of mine about the value of the car. He is a lifelong vintage car restorer and also produces and promotes vintage car shows in the West. He felt the car should bring between $3,000 and $3,500. Please keep in mind this is benefit auction for a cause where many members and volunteers around the country are working to preserve our pioneer heritage and cowboy culture. We are always in need of operating funds and are required to raise the majority of our revenue through donations. 100% of the proceeds from this auction go to benefit the National Day of the Cowboy nonprofit organization. www.nationaldayofthecowboy.org Please email me at the National Day of the Cowboy 501(c)3 with any questions you may have and I will forward them to the donor.
