Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. It has 172845 true miles on it and we have owned it since 1995 when we lived in Southern California. We towed it behind our motor home while RV’ing and loved it’s versatility. It comes equipped with custom tow bar brackets, a tow bar that can be quickly removed or bolted upright while you drive, and magnetic towing lights (see pictures). It also comes with 2 Chilton and Haynes Suzuki Samurai Repair Manuals. It has original paint with some fading on the hood, typical scratches and flaws. The full white top is in poor condition and doesn’t snap down all the way around. The gray BestTops ‘bikini’ top we use from late Spring until early Fall is in very good condition. The Samurai is nearly rust free: only known major rust is on the front passenger floor at rubber plug holes with a patch over one of them (see pictures). There is a metal patch plate under the right windshield wiper connection on the windshield frame (see pictures). A problem with the windshield wiper mechanism caused the wiper shaft to enlarge the hole that the wiper shaft goes through. The seats are vinyl with a few cracks and holes, although the drivers seat bottom has been covered. The rear seat had already been removed when we bought it and the back end painted with bed liner. The glove box plastic hinge is broken. The original felt carpet is in fair to poor condition; the area on the floor on the driver’s side has a large hole. The gas gauge is quirky – reads empty when tank is full and goes to half full when it’s half full and then heads for empty again. Probably needs the fuel gauge sending unit replaced, but I just reset the trip meter on the odometer every time I fill up with gas and fill up again before it gets to 200. Tires are near new in the rear; front and spare are only fair. The glass is all in reasonably good condition with the exception of a small rock pit on the driver’s side. The manual window lifts work well. The engine is still strong and transmission, brakes, 4x4 are all in good functional condition. Clutch and pressure plate were replaced a year ago. It has a new battery, catalytic converter, muffler, and tailpipe. A $500 down payment is required within 3 days of purchase. I can hold the vehicle for up to 30 days after down payment and final payment. You can drive it or tow it home. Or I’ll deliver the vehicle up to a couple of hundred miles, for $1 per mile
