Vehicle Detail

This vanagon has some great features for camping: Two extra DC outlets in the passenger area, a two-battery system (you can actually jump-start your own car!) to run additional accessories separately from your main batter when you camp, and a series of vents and fans throughout, including a pop-up roof vent. The rear seat folds flat. There is a trailer hitch. Stereo sounds great and has CD/MP3/IPOD capability. TAGS ARE GOOD until July 2011. Within Oregon that means you don't have to do anything. Outside of Oregon it means you can drive it for nearly a year without being cited. TITLE IS CLEAR and in-hand. This vehicle runs and drives, but needs a tune-up or something. It can get up to freeway speeds, but has problems with stalling/idling. My guess from prior experience is an airflow meter or an oxygen sensor, but I can't really say. You can drive it around town, but if you are taking it far, it should be towed. Since it has a stick-shift, towing is no problem! The paint and body are pretty good for something 26 years old. There are a few little rust spots near windows, which is very common on vanagons, but they have been treated and appear to be superficial. The back bumpers is fair, which is very common for Vanagons. The front bumper is better.Outer handle for sliding door is missing, but the handle on the inside works fine. Dashboard and seats look nice. The air condition is a mystery. Judging my the vent system and the large factory space built into the ceiling, air conditioning appears to be present. It does not work and I have no knowledge of what it would need. This vehicle is ideal for camping in cooler and wetter months. It is not a Westy or Westfalia, but their tents are thin, and of little use when it's not so nice outside. A hardtop winter-camper is a great way to go! Vanagons are wonderful, with an enormous network of owners and vendors who sell absolutely everything imaginable to customize your van into anything you want. This van has all of that potential, but it is not perfect, as was already described above. Keeping that in mind, this van comes AS IS WHERE IS. No warranty is expressed or implied in any way, shape, or form. A lot of vanagons sell for 2-3 times what I am asking, because they are perfect and this one is not. Please ask questions before you buy, as you are committed to the purchase as soon as you win. You are responsible for obtaining the van in a timely matter from Hillsboro Oregon, which is just west of Portland. FREE CAMPING EQUIPMENT: you get a thermoelectric cooler to keep your food cold (the picture of the trunk shows this item), two sleeping bags, and two folding chairs (the modern kind that become tube-shaped and have a nylon carrier). Start camping today! Make this super VW van yours without breaking the bank!
