What started it's life as a plain old Honda CB 450 had a transformation into a custom CR 450 vintage road racer in a design similar to the bike ridden by Swede Savage in the grand prix races in the 60's and 70's. As I was tired of seeing so much of the same on the road, I started out with an idea to create the bike pictured. It started with a quest to find a well cared for CB 450 that was in good shape with a meticulously cared for engine and other components. The engine was tested and found to be in excellent shape and then the build began. It started with a complete stripping of the frame of all components and then disassembling the engine to polish all the raw aluminum and paint the rest. Worn parts were replaced and after the engine was complete, work started on the frame. It was stripped and painted vs powder coated using PPG basecoat-clearcoat urethane. The seat and tank were purchased from Omar's DTR which makes some of the finest FG components I have ever worked with. Approximately 800 hours went into the build. Please remember that this is a used motorcycle. Do not expect it to be without any flaws. It was built to drive, not be a trailer queen for shows but you could show in in vintage categories easily. The bike was road tested only since the completion of the build and I'm ready to sell it so I can start another project. It is titled and registered as a Minnesota Classic Vehicle and is street legal in Minnesota*. The bike has turn signals and an LED tail/brakelight. The tank, being fiberglass is not DOT approved and may or may not be legal in your locale for street use. The tires are Shinko 10-712 R with heavy duty tubes. I was contacted by the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa Iowa and asked to put the bike on exhibit there and if the reserve is not met, it will be on display this winter.
