I am selling my 1997 VW Tdi. I bought this car in 2008 from a wholesaler with 171,600 miles. I have maintenance records since then, not including the work done by the wholesaler (listed). Details and new parts are listed below. I have driven it just under 50,000 in the last 2 years. Last month, a mechanic bled the brakes, and since then, the clutch hydraulics have essentially failed. I can no longer drive it, and have since purchased a 1999.5 model. It can be used for parts or to be repaired. It may need either clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder or both. I believe the brake booster and brake master cylinder are in good shape, since I tested the booster as per the repair manual instructions. I found the parts for under $250 bucks on google shopping, but feel free to look for yourself. The engine is in great shape, still going strong when this happened. It will need a new timing belt soon (60,000 recommended) Maintenance: 171,600 miles (by dealer) New timing belt All filters, fluids New Strut Mounts New Glow Plug Harness Oil changes: Synthetic, every 10,000 miles Last one done 200 miles ago Fuel and air filters changed regularly as well New Parts: Vacuum and under hood fuel lines - all new as of last winter Ball Joints - 180k Glow plugs - 185k Front brakes and rotors - 185k Right outer CV and axle - 185k Alternator - 195k Shocks and Struts (http://shopping.boraparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=411) - 200k Skip Plate - Feb 2010 Needs: Suspension is in great shape Engine - Timing belt soon Brakes - drums could probably use new shoes in the next year of driving Hydraulics - explained above Also, the rear bumper is loose on the passenger side, it wont fall off but it hangs about an inch. Shown in picture, it's just a broken plastic clip, it could be rigged or fixed easily. Front right bumper is cracked, shown in picture as well. Car has some scratches and wear, but is in good shape cosmetically for it's years. This car is originally from the east coast, and has corresponding rust issues.
