Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1970 Chevelle Malibu, 2 door hardtop. It's a great original survivor type car and is nicely optioned as well. It's showing 72,443 miles which was mostly from original owner. It was purchased new at the SHIELDS Chevrolet Buick dealership in Paola, Kansas on Sept. 1, 1970 for $3502.00. I have history documents of previous owners, copies of protecto plate, warranty papers and original invoice papers from dealership. One family owned until 2008. It was one of the last 1970 Chevelles built at the Kansas City plant. Cowl tag reads: ST 70-13637 BT52001 BDY TR 788 78 78 PNT 07B 464 Purchase order with option list shows: Black Cherry color Red interior Tinted glass Bucket seats Door edge guards Floor mats Power steering Power drum brakes Air conditioning 350 V8 250 HP 350 Turbo-hydro-matic F 78-14 belted whitewall Clock Rear speaker RPO ralley wheels All five RPO (regular production order) 14x6 rally wheels have matched "YW" codes and dated the same. I have never looked for a build sheet. Still has a like new original power streak F78x14 spare tire. Correct and complete jack is included. All numbers and dates match on this car. I decoded the engine and most of the components. It looks like the only none original items are the water pump, wiper motor, A/C compressor and POA valve. I have a good original POA valve with lines I will include. Has an aftermarket cruise control option but the cable to carb is broke. This Malibu is a nice, smooth and quiet driver. Lots of snap and power. No suspension noices, still has good original single exhaust system. Nice unmolested survivor that was well maintained or repaired as needed throughout the years. Has the original AM radio and speakers. Nice unmolested rear shelf. All the tinted glass is nice including the original windshield. The body has some small dents and dings with original paint showing its age. One picture shows the worst of any rust starting. (LH front fender) Otherwise, very solid and 99% rust free condition. No rust in the floors or trunk floor. Very dry, original looking under carriage. Was never undercoated, smooth floor pans. No dents in fuel tank, no frame damage or rust. Starts, runs, shifts, handles and stops as it should. Choke works nice, engine runs strong and doesn't smoke. I have the original air cleaner heat pipe to manifold. (not pictured). A/C may need recharging to be operable again. I replaced the battery this summer. I did an oil change and a mild tune up. New spark plugs and plug wires. The interior is very good for the age. Pretty red interior with bucket seats and column shift. Original carpets are nice for the age. No cracks or damage on the dash or pad. Steering wheel has cracks. Driver seat has some wear showing as shown in one picture. Passenger seat has a one inch tare. Very nice black seat belts and has shoulder belt option. No fading on top of rear seat or rear shelf. Excellent rear seat. Nice headliner with one tare at the right rear sail panel area as shown in one picture. Has like new P21570R14 tires Overall, this is a great driver or a desireable Malibu to restore. Sharp looking car. Questions are welcome. I can send more detailed pictures of this car upon request. (I would need your email address.) I enjoyed owning it but would like to sell to help fund my 68 Chevelle SS project. Thanks for viewing this auction and your interest. I would like 10% of winning bid for a deposit within 48 hours of auction ending by paypal and the remaining balance in cash within 14 days of auction ending or pick up of vehicle. I will not accept balance paid by paypal. US bank cashiers check is accepted but car stays until check clears. Can store vehicle inside up to 30 days.
