Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for a pretty ugly 1977 MGB roadster that would make a good restoration project. It starts, runs, just about and drives and is almost completely rust free. It is quite complete although the convertible top frame is missing. It has been hit in the front right fender and had some very ingenious adaptive work to hold in the headlight, albeit crooked! The engine needs work and leaks oil. The hood has seen better days and I think would need replacing, it does not latch. The trunk could probably be saved but it also does not latch. It needs a battery but starts with jumper cables. There is a small exhaust leak and the temp gauge does not indicate. The lights do not work except for one stop light. The brakes and steering work well as does the clutch but the front shocks are worn out. The gearbox is quiet and all synchros are good. The rear axle is also not noisy. One electric cooling fan works as does the oil pressure gauge, wipers and fuel gauge. The electrical system has had some additions but I did not see any burnt wiring. Driving down the road the car tracks straight and feels surprisingly tight. Obviously the interior needs replacing and the body needs repainting, but the car is reasonably straight and the only rust is a few very small patches on the drivers floor – see pictures - where the carpet has got damp and has been left. The usual areas at the bottom of the front and rear (dog leg ) fenders look perfect. The tires have decent tread but look old. Under the hood the car is very original. It has a clear California title and is currently not registered. All in all this is a good solid example of an MGB roadster that would make excellent and easy restoration project for someone. Bid to buy with confidence I have sold a lot of British cars on e-bay with only excellent feedback. As always I would recommend inspecting the car in person if possible, please call 310 833 1525 for an appointment.
