Vehicle Detail
1978 Volkswagen Bug very original never restored, was running fine until last year when the engine went out. It was pulled for a rebuild but never finished. Engine and all it's parts are included and will be carefully put inside the car. It is a fuel injected 1600 and is original to the car. This bug has an almost perfect body. It was repainted over the original white about 15 years ago on the outside only. The trunk, door jams, engine compartment, etc. are original from the factory. I have gone over the entire body with a magnet and there is no Bondo or rust. The paint has chipped off in a few places and minor surface rust has started, but that's it. It has always been garaged so the body is rust free, check out of the picture of the inside of the heater channel when I took the front heater outlet cover off. The heater channels and body rails(the stiffeners the run front to back under the doors) inner fenders, spare tire area, etc. are nice and clean. The floor pan(frame) is very nice too but does have rust under the rear seat on the driver's side. The passenger side where the battery goes is completely solid. The pan was cleaned up and the inside was painted with a primer but had no repairs done. It is all original and only needs work on the rear driver's side(shown in one of the pictures) The body has all of it's original metal except for the hood which is fiberglass. The original hood is included but has some damage also comes with a new front right fender. This convertible has never seen any body flex or accidents and the fit of the doors is perfect. The doors show no signs of wear, no cracks, excellent hinges, and close with ease. The engine was removed and has been taken down to the long block and all parts have been bagged, boxed, and stored inside. Everything is in good condition and the engine still ran when removed but had low compression. Transmission, clutch, and axles are all in good shape. Transmission shifted well and had no wine or excess noise. Brakes work, suspension and steering are tight and tires have tread, has all five original wheels. Electrical is all working, including all lights, wipers, flashers etc. One key works the ignition and both doors. The bumpers and chrome are in good condition and are original. Front bumper is very nice, rear has a dent in the center. The front two side trims are missing in the pictures, I have them and can install them if you want. The rear view mirror and sun visors are not pictured but they are in good shape and included too. The interior is original. It has a few cracks in the dash and the seats show there age. Driver's door panel has a tear but the passenger side is nice, carpet looks good, rear side panels are in good condition. Top Frame is in great shape, no rust and the bows are excellent. Goes up and down smoothly and has very nice latches and latch receivers. The Cover has a couple of small holes that could be patched. . Free delivery to the port of Oakland or any shipper in Oakland.
