Vehicle Detail
1988 Mustang GT Convertible 5 Speed. I traded a Harley Davidson for this car last week with ambitions of a full restoration but reality smacked me the head today and told me I needed a more practical car. This is the story behind the car. I traded a bike to a kid who got this car as a gift in 2000 from his father when he was 16. His fathers freind had a machine shop so over about an 18 month period they rebuilt the motor. They acid dipped the block, balanced and blue printed the bottom end, put in a cam, ported and polished the heads, New Stage 2 clutch, Hurst Shifter, Eibach Sports Suspension, 388 rear, Prime Wheels with Daytona Tires+++ Only 500 miles on rebuild. Then it sat for about 4 years, military. When he came back he got a truck for work and could not afford nor did he need a second car so he would tinker from time to time but never registered it. 6 months ago he wanted to put it on the road and found he needed catyletic convertes so put then on and when nuts with spray paint and made a mess, originally Scarlet Red. Currently runs and drives well, no shakes, shimmies, pulls or funny noises. Now I have it and need to trade it for a late model 4 door automatic or sell it and move on. I got it last week and decided to clean the motor, I did such a good job I got water in the distributor and burned it up. I got a rebuilt Motorcraft distributor on Thursday with a life time guarentee for it and it started right up. It runs great and will tear up the streets but needs paint, weather stripping and a new top. Small dent bottom of drivers door that has to much bondo on it. Interior is real clean for a 22 year old car and has typical wear. No rips, burns or cracks in dash. Also note that the tail pipe from the muffler back is missing on the passanger side, it came undone and he left it by mistake when he moved. This is a solid vehicle with no damage or rust, worthy of a full restoration.
