Vehicle Detail

This is an all original 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Sedan with original colors of Matador Red and India Ivory. The engine is the original 283 ci V-8 with 4-barrel carburetor. The condition of the engine and it’s performance are excellent. The original transmission is Powerglide and it’s as smooth shifting as when new. It was completely rebuilt by professionals to original condition. The drive train is all original and in good condition. The frame components look great with most of the original undercoating still in place. The suspension system looks fine. The original dual exhaust system was replaced with new components, from manifold to tailpipes. The sound at the engine exhaust is the low, smooth rumble of a powerful motor. The engine has no smoke or strange noises and uses Mobil 1 synthetic oil. The radiator core was replaced to original condition. The original fuel pump was getting weak and was replaced. The original starter, generator and water pump are still in place and function nicely. The horn has the original multitone sound and nice loud volume. The body is in very good condition with an occasional ding but nothing major. The original factory paint is very good with slight thinning in one or two areas, barely noticeable. The chrome trim and bumpers are all intact and look great for a vehicle of this age. The front and rear windshields and all the window glass are perfectly clear. The white hard top is in excellent condition. At the rear, the contoured bumper with original Continental Kit and spare are in beautiful condition. Open the trunk and the interior looks like new. A small blended patch is located on the floor near the original whitewall spare tire. The black rubber floor mat is original. All exterior lights are in working order. The whitewall tires are original B. F. Goodrich Silvertown 7.50 X 14 in good condition. The original wheel covers are the spinner type and are mostly in very good condition. The fender skirts are in original condition. The original brake system was overhauled using original parts. The power steering components were replaced and the pump was rebuilt. All work was done by mechanics at North Houston's Premier Restoration Facility, the experts in these cars, and carries a one year warranty. Receipts provided. On the inside, the seats, upholstery and flooring are original and in mostly good condition. The headliner is great and the back window shelf has a blue fabric cover that replaced the original one. The dashboard is the same Matador Red and all the knobs, switches and chrome are in working order. The radio is the original Wonderbar AM model supplied on many 1957 Chevrolets and it works great. The analog clock is original and nonworking at the moment. The heater works perfectly and there’s no clunky A/C. All dash and interior lights are working. The odometer reading is 30,775 and may or may not be original mileage, I don’t know. All instruments work. The windshield has current license and vehicle inspection stickers and I have a clear Texas title. It's a beautiful car that attracts lots of attention and handles as it did in 1957, when we cruised Main Street in these muscle cars. This is likely one of the very few all-original 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupes in existence today. I acquired the car in 2009 and have corrected most of the normal wear-and-tear components. The previous owner was an elderly amateur/ham electronics engineer in Oak Park, Michigan who acquired it in 1996. I have no history beyond that but the car has clearly been kept indoors and well cared for all it‘s life. The value of this car in its present original condition is about $45,000., based on 2010 statistics such as the NADA book value and Old Cars Report Price Guide June 2010. With some additional tweaking of a few normal wear-and-tear items, the car can attain a value of $75,000-plus and become a contender at car shows. Included is the original "1957 Chevrolet Passenger Car Shop Manual" and the "Operators Manual" in the glove compartment.
