Vehicle Detail

This is a 1930 Model A Tudor. I purchased it from the son of a gentleman who is now deceased. As a result, what comments I make here are based on my own observations and the son's recollections I was told it is an older body-off restoration. - approx 15-20 years old. It has only 1588 miles on the speedometer, and I believe it is the speedometer that was installed when the restoration was completed. The car is in very nice condition. ---Title - it has a clear Minnesota title. ---Headlights - are nice, stainless steel, no dents, shiny ---Cowl lights - a nice pair but not hooked up ---Horn - not shown in picture but a nice Stewart-Warner horn will be installed and goes with the car. --- Radiator shield - nice, stainless steel, no dents, no weld. --- Radiator - nice, ORIGINAL (most radiators these days are repo's). ---Engine - good, runs nice ---Starter, Generator, Distributor, Coil - all correct originals --- Carb - a nice, correct Zenith. ---Fan - nice, original 2-blade. ---Engine pans - present and correct (most Model A's no longer have them) ---Shocks -none ---Wiper - none-I personally don't have one either, so I use Rainex which works great. ---Steering wheel - nice, but for some unknown reason, a notch was cut into the plastic (not the main metal supporting wire). This can easily be filled with 2-part epoxy-PC 7- which I bought from my local Ace Hardware Store. There is absolutely no safety problem here as the wheel is solid. --- Tires - good, lots of tread. ---Inner tube valve stems - nice, metal, correct ---Fenders- nice, no rust, no weld. One rear has an approx 1/2" minor crack ---Doors - nice, no weld or rust ---Body - nice, no rust or weld. ---IMPORTANT comment: While the metal is nice on the entire car, the paint is showing signs of age. It has developed some "spiderwebbing" on the fenders and there are some chips in the paint also, which have been touched up. However, the paint does look nice, but will not pass high-point judging. And, you will not be embarrassed to drive this car. ---Windows - good - probably replaced with safety glass, but I can't prove it. ---Upholstery - very nice, original type, may be Lebaron-Bonney. ---Brakes, transmission, differential - I don't know what has been done with them but they work fine. Typically when a car has been restored, these have also been restored. ---There are two books, a crank, and fire extinguisher that go with the car. This is a nice older restoration. It will be a fun car to own and will look nice in a traditional car show. But it is not perfect. It would be a $10,000-$12,000 car with better paint, but I am selling it for $8500. because of the not-perfect paint. Also, there may be other minor adjustments (typical for a Model A) that need to be made on it. I've driven it for 25 miles with no problems.
